The Whisky Thread

Wanted to share my latest finds. I don’t know that PA gets much recognition for their Bourbons and Ryes but check out these 3 bottles.

It has completely changed my take on PA as a pillar in bourbon making.

Very nice, I didn't realise that PA was a Bourbon state.

Getting the basement finished and had to pull up the stockpile. This doesn't include the large selection of open and hard to find items that I already had upstairs. Hope to publish pics of the basement when done, the bar area will be fairly extensive.

Pics if needed, everyone knows what the bottles look like...……..I picked up 3 bottles of Blanton's yesterday for $225. More than MSRP but not too outrageous.

I have a nip with a cigar-great way to decompress at night.

I tell my wife that I don't have a drinking problem, I have a purchasing problem. The purchasing outperforms the drinking hence there are so many bottles. That is how I have rationalized it anyway.

There were a little over 200 bottles in the basement, and I already had about 150 or so upstairs in the kitchen area.

Someone from Japan gifted one of these as omiyage, many years ago, before I drank whisky. I had no idea what it was, but kept the bottle because it was neat (see what I did there). Unfortunately, it disappeared after moving. Hopefully it's in a box somewhere.

Bourbon/Rye Blends

I'm planning a tasting with a blend of bourbon/rye theme. Currently on the menu are:

Bourye
Yippee Kay Yay
Heaven's Door store pick blend (69b 31r)
Redwood Empire Lost Monarch
Wyoming Whiskey Outryder

Any obvious choices I'm overlooking here?

Have a couple bottles of this, it’s excellent even at a markup. I personally prefer it to my half empty bottle of Van Winkle 12-year.

Nice! I’ve got the van winkle 12 too, it’s one of my favorites. I’ve heard so many good things about this one, can’t wait to pop it open tonight! Cheers
