New Dive Weight

I have always been an Omega man, but last year I decided to get a SS Sub Date as my first Rolex to commemorate a promotion. I fell in love with the watch and decided to begin the frustrating journey of collecting a couple Rolex (what a time to decide to do so...).

Before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, I stopped in to my AD and found a DSSD James Cameron in the case. At the time, I had just begun my Rolex journey and did not yet appreciate the watch. It was thicker and "clunky" compared to my 45.5 Planet Oceans (which have a beautifully designed case for their size).

After a few months of learning more about Rolex (including perhaps a bit too too much time perusing these forums), I really started to kick myself for letting the DSSD James Cameron go, and let me AD know to please let me know if they ever got another in.

The other week, I got the call! The dial is really special, very unique for Rolex. The engineering to survive such extreme depths is amazing. The (insane) crystal, ring-lock system, and titanium case-back are all wonderful both aesthetically and functionally. It's a large watch, no doubt, but I have come to appreciate why and continue to find new things I love about it every day.

Completely agree - the Deepsea is an incredible watch, and the D-Blue is stunning. Congrats.

Congratulations on your right decision.

I love mine very much. I have a small 6.5" wrist, but when I saw that beautiful dial, I took it right away.

Great choice, I love this piece. Have you seen the James Cameron Challenger Deep documentary? Such a fascinating story.

I have a 7.25 inch wrist (18.4 cm) that is relatively flat, which helps for a watch of this size.

New Dive Weight

Congrats!

I too had 2nd thoughts when I got offered a JC DSSD because I wasn’t sure if I can pull it off with my 7” wrist, but I loved everything about it! Dial is bad a$$ and the Crystal makes it POP even more..Only Rolex Sport with the Gradient Dial, Ring Lock System, Robust Case and Unique Glidelock Mechanism. I’d say Rolex “over engineered” this piece. For $14k with tax, and James Cameron has ties to it, this is a Bargain People!! Why Pay $14-15k on the Grey for a HULK? Not hating, but just compare the two...Glad I listened to my Sales Guy...He told me that once you size the bracelet to your wrist, the watch will fit great! It sure does!!

This will be a True Collectible!!
