New OP colours.....new target market?
I can see the new OP colours attracting a whole new dynamic to Rolex.
If you start seeing some female 'influencers' sporting a nice red/yellow/pink/turquoise/green dial watch, I can see them becoming really hot for a whole fashion conscious segment who would not normally aspire to own a Rolex. Especially at the price point compared to other models. I think its a very smart move by Rolex. My missus absolutely loves them (she does already has a YM mind you) and is busy deciding which colour to go for. |

I'm not sure if influencers will be able to get one , lets face it they'll sell out with or without some Z lister with over pumped lips trying to hype them

I’m a man and I like colors, too.
There’s only so much black and steel one can take, IMO. Plus, the nod to Stella history is something I appreciate. |

As well as DD if I remember they did some in the OP range as well, perhaps Rolex just bringing these old colours back from the dead as they were in bygone days.

OP: I think it’s not just about introducing Rolex to a brand new younger audience who might not previously have considered themselves as being particularly interested in the brand, but now there’s the style to go with it as well.
Reel them in young, and they might like to upgrade as they mature professionally and obviously, in income. And it could also be to cater to those who desperately want a sub but can’t get one, and perhaps this will tide them over until they can somehow get one. The previous generation of young professionals could easily access a sub. The current one? Not so much. Haters will hate, but this doesn’t appear to be a move that could go wrong imo. This release will mean my money won’t be going to nomos etc for my “fun” watches. IMHO great move by Rolex.

They're nice as collectibles hoping that some day they'll have great value (not likely); personally not on my wrist however. Maybe stored in a safe or a bank vault somewhere. I can see these type of dials being popular in the 70s when they were originally introduced to go with tie dye and rich hippies but this isn't the 70s and hippies and hipsters aren't the same.

Rolex produces/sells about 1/50th what Apple sells in watches each year. Theoretically, even if they pumped out as many “desirable” pieces as Apple does each year, they still wouldn’t even be worth half of Apple’s total worth. I guarantee this is the exact market they are going after and the OP is silently waiting in the wings to explode over the next year.

However, Rolex knows they need to be careful. Rolex thrives, like other luxury brands, with perceived exclusivity.. Apple can pump out more and more and people will buy. If Rolex did that, their watches would go back to 2016ish and before when they used to sit in display cases selling at a much much slower rate. Plus, Apple owners will need to buy a new watch every year or other year to stay current. A Rolex watch can last a lifetime so not as many people running to upgrade because they "have" to. |

Rolex is owned by the Wilsdorf foundation. It is not a stock market company. They absolutely have no incentive on market shares, volumes or stock value. Watches nowadays represent only 17% of their income. It is their least strategic business. Beside they own the second biggest gold stock in the world right after Fort Knocks, which is a real asset, not virtual value . The Wilsdorf foundation could be worth more than Apple... but no one will know as their numbers aren’t published. Discretion is a value cherished in Switzerland.

The colors are definitely different from what Rolex is offering these days. It has definitely got more of my interest. I usually choose a dial other than black when it comes to watches. Black seems to be too plain for me. Therefore this is a nice little twist.
My wife has never been into watches has now started an interest after seeing these new colors. So they're doing something right since she never cared for Rolex before. Especially the picture below that I saw from this post. |

That's probably the reason why they recently stopped fairly new watch customiser La Californienne with their catchy colours from carrying out any more work on their products and taking their market share.

They remind me of the watches that company in LA were producing with their own colourful dials on genuine Rolex models.
Rolex got them shut down in court. Yes I can see these being popular. Not my cup of tea but I think a lot of females will go for the bright vibrant colours. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Wow such an awesome shot. These pieces draw influence right from the Stella dial Day Dates from back in the day - similar color schemes. I think Rolex is attracting a great audience with these pieces - they’ll be somewhat attainable and at accessible price points. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
