New Ladies Constellation from 2007 selling as new?
Hey guys,
I'm considering a ladies constellation that is supposedly new. The jeweler advertised the production date as 2017. When I trace the watch serial number "85224xxx" it shows a 2007 production year. They want $4,800 for the watch. Is it worth it? They said they will provide a warranty card. |

I am sorry I misread this as a Rolex watch with a random serial number.
Is it worth it to you? Only you can answer that question

I guess my real question is whether a watch from 2007 can be considered "new".

Do you have a picture of the watch?

If an item was never sold from the retail establishment and simply sat, in its original packaging for years, then its still considered new. Haven't you noticed all the "NOS" (new old stock) watches, advertised on this forum and others????

Have you discussed the discrepancy with the jeweler? If so, what did the jeweler say? If not, then maybe it's a good first step to ask where they got 2017 and tell them how you got 2007.
Also, without more info about the watch's configuration, it's not likely we can say if $4,800 is fair. A constellation can be many things, from a steel watch with a quartz movement to a solid 18k gold watch and bracelet with an automatic movement and maybe even some diamonds sprinkled around the dial or the bezel. |

Thanks all. The watch is a 123.20.31.20.05.002 with 18k gold bezel and oyster perpetual face. It's an Automatic with date.
The Jeweler said they just used 2017 production date for the online advertisement since that is when they closed their brick-n-mortar store and went completely online. The original price tag (included with serial number matching the watch is $8,649). Is it common for luxury watches to sit for 10 years or more like this one did? |
