In my whole collection ,only 2 Rolex has seen RSC :

126660 JC .. slow running 3235 issue .
116660 original DSSD ,just for polish and rebrush .Asked not to service since was running +1s/day and RSC agreed .

The 116660 came back looking like perfectly new .

polishing is now a two way door with the advent of laser case welding.

so many people who are spending big $$$ on "unpolished" watches are getting scammed.

so polish your watch.

Admittedly not my business, but I certainly don't know what kind of timepiece (if any) young children would want in a number of years.

This has been the case for a while. The stereotypical 'grandpa's watch' scenario implies how much appreciation there is for grandpa's old crap that may or may not be worth something.

What a nice basic Rolex DateJust! What did you do to have all those scratches? Honestly, I would have hand polished it. They use a machine to polish it and take a layer of stainless steel off.

Polish them like they are new. Those scratches are yours, not your kids. Take a good look at them and maybe a picture before you send them in and enjoy the smile you will get when seeing them "new" again.

I just had my wife's DJ serviced with Rolliwerks and told them to make it in as new condition as possible. They did an awesome job and my wife flipped out and cried it looks so good. Ditch the scratches......

Why not ask the kids when you’re ready to gift them? ‘So, do you want them they way we wore them, or do you want them polished so they look new?’

It would be a shame for them to get locked away for that long... I would wear it. Polishing won't hurt, it's not a vintage watch. Don't listen to the naysayers.

I must admit that this is one of the better polish jobs considering how your "beater" or "daily" watch looked before going to RSC for service/polish. Very nice!

ok so we've decided to keep wearing them until it gets closer to the time, it is indeed a waste to put such nice time pieces away.

Passing down the watches to our kids is just something I would like to do that might be meaningful, I could care less whether they'd appreciate it or not. One thing I'm sure is that I wish my father gave me a Rolex when I turned 21 lol...

My Mom gave me a 34mm gold 15038 Date, which I wore and got it dinged and scratched a bit.

I had it serviced 3-1/2 years ago and Dallas RSC did a fantastic job making it look like new.

I wear it on special occasions and at home. It reminds me of my late Mom.

If it’s not a true collectible, a professional polish is ok IMHO...

Very classy. The bezel is nice and sharp.

Thanks. I really like it.

It keeps great time, about +1.5 seconds/day.

Cool strap! May I ask what brand this is and where did you get it?

Edit: nevermind! I saw in another post that it's for an Omega Speedmaster. Jean Rousseau of Paris actually makes it for Omega and I found it on their site without the Omega branding and in multiple colors. It looks awesome on your watch.

Wear your watches. That's what you like. By the time your kids inherit them they may care more about the latest smart watch, car or whatever.

Thanks! Yes it is made by JR for the Omega silver snoopy; the Omega reference is 032CWZ003436. I have seen it with orange stitches (special order from JR, below) as some people custom order it for the Speedmaster Speedy Tuesday 2 / Ultraman (below), that would look cool on the MG:

Good choice! I hope to pass down most of my watches while I am still alive so I might hopefully see them enjoy as much as I did.
