2020 Watch Production Numbers

In “normal” times (read: one without global pandemic), online literature suggest Rolex produces roughly 1 million watches per year and a brand like ALS produces 5 to 6,000 watches per year.

When 2020 mercifully draws to a close, would be interested to see how COVID-19 altered final production numbers, if at all.

While an inexact science when brands like Rolex and AP use random serial numbers that do not correspond to actual production year, do you think watches produced or AD/Boutique stamped in 2020 might also carry with it additional collectibility?

I think of wine, specifically, as an analog. “2019” was a good year for XYZ, or wildfires made “2016” a rare vintage of XYZ.

Bueller? Bueller?

2020 - Less watch production = potential more collectability for certain models?

Watches don't taste different based on the year, though.

Absolutely. No way. Hmm maybe.

Other than a few folks searching for birth year watches- can’t say I’ve seen anyone looking for a specific year or it affecting value. Though you may have just opened another marketing device for Jacek though “For sale: 2020 OP 41 with ‘Pandemic-yellow’ dial”

Actually after this year I would appreciate never looking back or hearing of 2020 ever again.
