I’ve always been attracted to how it looks “water drop” and how Rolex managed to distinct itself thanks to it. In my opinion the cyclops function is much more than a loop to Rolex, it’s a design characteristic of the brand. This why Rolex couldn’t help adding it to the SD43 when it became technically possible. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I don't like it but I'm biased as I'm never in a position to need the date from a watch. The only time I need a date is while staring at a computer. Just aesthetics I guess. My grail would be a PM sub if it existed (or more descriptively a no-date, but don't want to upset anybody).

It is useful, but the main issue for me is that its base needs to be cleaned all the time. I could not live without the date, I am too used to it.
But I cannot vote « love it » and certainly not « leave it ». Sorry, no vote.

I prefer the no date models without a cyclops. I prefer the date models with a cyclops. I like my 16600 without a cyclops.

Sub without the date is the quintessential Rolex to me. So no.

I like it and I see cyclop as an integrated part of Rolex; the reason is probably because I started to love Rolex at the end of years '80 and at that time the most desired models were Sub 16610 (the 14060 was much less sought-after) and GMT 16710.
Having said that, I must admit that I like the idea of adding to my watches either a 124060 or an Explorer 1, exactly for the reason to get one watch without a cyclop. |

It does not matter to me but would opt out if a choice.

On my sub, no. On my GMT, definitely yes. For me it depends on what tool I need on my wrist.
In the water I don’t care what the date is, I just need to read the time easily and timer if applicable. If I’m working, I need to know what the date and time is where I am and what it is where the people I am dealing with are. |

I love it, i like that i can look at my Rolex without my glasses and can still see the date....
Also, the Submariner, it's the only Rolex that everyone and i mean everyone talks about, complaining about this or that, with or without! We Sub owners smile as we look down at our wrist...hehehe....we don't talk about what you wear and could care less....because we are wearing the most iconic watch in the world! |

I have no issue with the cyclops.
My eyes are such that I can't read the date without my glasses, cyclops or not. I do think that my 14060M looks great without a date and cyclops, though. Date complications are not a necessity for me, anyway. I voted "Love it," because there's not "Take it or leave it" option.

Don't like cyclops at all looks very untidy and an afterthought.
Personally speaking I don't like date wheels either my idea of a watch is a timepiece not a calendar. |

I’m a cyclops fan. If I weren’t, I’d probably buy a Vacheron.

Huge cyclops fan here! It is the only feature that I miss on my PAM, otherwise it was perfection.

I like a big date window. Otherwise, a cyclops is much better for a date magnification.

Both my current watches have dates, neither has a cyclops, I can read the dates just fine. I prefer without.
I do find it interesting how recognizable the cyclops is though, it's a hallmark of a Rolex. When I had a Submariner Date, it got recognized often, whereas the DeepSea never does and I've owned it 4x as long. I prefer it not to be noticed, don't get me wrong on that, it's just interesting that the cyclops seems to really catch the eye of the general public. |

Its part of the Rolex DNA,like it or not.I have heard new beginners call a Rolex
without it a fake. And it makes it so easy to read the date. |

It only makes sense if you have trouble seeing and don't want to wear glasses or contacts. Considering people who have trouble seeing wear glasses or contacts, its completely pointless.

I can recall about six years ago standing outside an AD’s window gawping at the display of exp, deep sea, milguass, two tone subs etc but no SS subs being just the start of the shortage.
A lady came out of the shop and started to stick ‘for sale’ notices about. I went up to her and asked if that applied to Rolex. She fell about and said no it did’nt, anyway we got talking about Rolex and then out of the blue she said: ‘of course a Rolex is not really a Rolex unless it has a cyclops’! I was rather surprised! A few weeks later I walked in and bought my first Rolex, for my Wife, a datejust 26mm SS and white gold. She was so pleased and it paved the way for my Exp 39mm and SS Sub date. NB Interestingly the AD lost it’s Rolex dealership a few months later. |

I agree; a date window always seems to destroy the symmetry of the dial, no matter where they put it. An exception might be A Lange $ Sohn.
