I have gone ahead and purchased the watch.

Yeah I’ve seen that catawiki auction. It’s the same dealer. As the auction states, the watch was never sold due to not meeting reservation price, and I ended up getting a price a few hundred above that price, so I got a good discount in the end.

We’ll see when it gets here if I’m satisfied with it or not:)

Best,
Daniel

I see, I misread the Catawiki listing. So apparently 7700 Euro was the reserve price, which was not met.

Some great advice shared by a few seasoned collectors on the question at hand. Polished has unfortunately become a dirty word and is often used a bit carelessly without elaboration. If a watch has been polished correctly, it's not the same discussion as one that's been polished incorrectly and lost key features and dimensions.

At the end of the day, it's best to use a method for determining what you can live with and what bothers you personally when considering a piece. Also realizing that the closer you get to original and top condition on a vintage watch, the more a reference will cost, so it all has to filter through a lens of budget comfort to quality for most of us as well.

Good looking watch.

Lugs are even and overall well maintained. We cannot judge early watches, which had a much different profile, to todays thicker, heavier cases.

Looks great. I honestly don't care for the 'it's overpolished brigade' opinions. It's decades old and looks fantastic.

No I think the reserve price was higher and the highest bid was 7700. That’s what the bidding history indicates.

Got it. I can't see the bidding history for some reason. Maybe I need to log in, but I can't recall my password since I never bid on anything on Catawiki. But since the auction estimate began at 10.5k Euro, that was probably the reserve.

Hey guys!

I just got the watch and I really fell in love with it right away. I don’t mind the polish at all actually. Think it looks pretty bad ass overall.

I do a have a problem though. The bracelet is way to big for me, and it seems like there is no removable links on this bracelet.. has anyone here managed to remove links on a bracelet like this anyway?

Also, the weight of the watch is approximately 109g.. is that reasonable? I read that a gold datejust is supposed to heavier.
