Seems to me if the 40mm Sub feels "just right" the 39.5mm DJ41 should feel pretty perfect too, but your call

What you’re saying should make sense, but I found that it wasn’t so.

The DJ41 isn’t a sports watch and was designed as a classic model that should have always been smaller. True, it’s no larger than 40mm, however, the following make it wear larger.

The DJ41 bezel is too wide and out of proportion, especially as the bezel isn’t functional.

The DJ41 has a dial that is larger than the sports range, which is just odd, whereas the DJ36 has the same size dial as the Sub/GMT etc.

The DJ41 has a wider lug-lug width than the Sub C. (albeit the same as the now updated 126 models)

I bought a DJ2 and sold it 3 years later. Then I went for a DJ41 and sold that 2 years later. Then I got the DJ36, and it’s just right.

Everyone’s different obviously, but for me, anything but the classic and iconic size DJ just doesn’t work.

41 is too big and chunky, 36 is too small. I would get neither

I keep seeing people say that 36 is too small, but I would disagree. I have a 6694 that is 34 and I wear it, and love it. I am not one of the herd who thinks that watches must be 40+ mm to be manly. It may be because I have a love for vintage watches which tend to be smaller.

I love my GMT and my SD, but they are about as big as I go. My Speedmaster was inherited and doesn't get the wrist time it should, primarily since it feels too large.

My 16600 wears small so I would choose the 41 mm DJ, but if the 16600 is perfect for you, a 36 mm DJ may be the choice.

I do love my 36mm DJ (1996) but my preferences have moved to bigger.

Congrats! Really can’t go wrong with either. Beautiful watch.

DJ41 all the way, It is actually less than 40mm. You are better to try both of them in person.
