Just in 1661

Panerai Carbotech was always on my mind but was unsure of the material , unsure of 44mm size as I have the 42mm Sub. However when 1661 was launched , I just wanted it regardless of my above concerns and of all the brands I have Panerai is something you can't acquire with a rational mind :)

So this just landed! Initial thoughts the material feels silkly smooth and really touch friendly. Super light weight which eased my apprehension of 44mm size , the lugs do over hang my small wrists but don't care about it , hey its a Pam.

The dial is so sexy and so unique even for Panerais. I think it will look even better with my custom straps which are on the way and more photos will be uploaded.

The movement , well I was hoping for the hacking seconds but mine is the non-hacking updated version , not a deal breaker but still clueless whether is it really an update or downgrade. Do note that it is noisy compared to my gold sub , probably it's due to carbon case.

Cheers

congratulations! this is surely a fantastic piece and i really like the new style rubber strap. i own the 1616 which is also made of carbotech material, its strong, scratch proof, and finger print proof, not like stainless steel which is finger print magnet. enjoy it!

This is one of my top Panerai. Definitely something that needs to be in my collection eventually. Congrats!

Although I can't help but feel, it makes the LAB ID less special when this exists. Kind of like if you're a McLaren P1 owner and then the 720S comes out so soon after making it feel less special.

Now obviously the LAB ID has a crazy caseback but still.

I feel like I’m starting to see the problem with Panerai. When they release limited editions, if they’re popular enough, they re release in a few years something very similar, which basically negates the Limited Edition piece. Collectibility and exclusivity are never considered.

Finally got some wrist time and added a double horn strap... So stealthy ! Nice lume which is green as many would be curious about the color..

Another update is I am trying to source from Panerai to get a sapphire caseback , will keep updated. IMG20210626131917.jpgIMG20210626132617.jpgIMG20210626133531.jpgIMG20210626132018.jpgIMG20210626134404.jpgIMG20210626132708.jpgIMG20210621153622.jpg
