How many production runs do they make for the SS 2021 Explorer 1 ref 124270?

How many production runs do they make for the SS 2021 Explorer 1 ref 124270? I have been desperately searching for this watch from an AD. Because I don't have an AD relationship etc I have resigned myself to the fact that if I want this watch I will have to go grey and pay $9k+ for a watch that sells at retail for $6,750

From the reading I have done I believe Rolex only made one batch so to speak of the Stainless Steal 2021 Explorer 1 ref 124270. I noticed a lot of people getting calls earlier on and now very few people post new explorer 1's. How many production runs did they have of this watch. From what I gather I think they just made one batch and didn't produce another run after the first.

It’s not a watch with a limited run and I would expect ADs to continue receiving this in their random shipments from Rolex.

No one here would likely know how many or when Rolex produces and ships, but the 124270 is not rare.

They aren’t Yeezys. They’ll be made until replaced by a new model in a number of years (maybe 7 years who knows).

For what it's worth, I was on "the list" for an Explorer for 26 months prior to picking mine up in early October.

WARNING...the 124270 is a collection killer! I took delivery of mine last week and I have been wearing it ever since. It is as close to the perfect watch that I have ever owned. I used to be in the 39mm camp, but I was dead wrong. The AR coating, 70+ hour power reserve, gloss dial, and traditional proportions. It is a jaw-dropper and I am starting to think it is all I would ever need!

How in the world would anyone know the answer to this question unless they were in the production scheduling department?

Did someone ask for the Scheduling and Production Department….sorry I’m on extended sabbatical. But we do have demo pieces for you to drool over in all our empty Boutiques and ADs.

No one knows the answer except Rolex, however they have been steadily arriving for sale each week from release on the grey market. So it would appear that they all didn't come from one batch of production. Plenty about, I've seen them from just £2k over MSRP here which seems reasonable considering the demand for a new model. You are either going to need a lot of luck or a huge amount of patience if you want to source one from an AD with no prior history. Good luck.

No idea how many, but as this is a brand new redesign its safe to say it wont be around for a limited time. They are going to produce this watch for at least a few years.

Perhaps the question comes from the speculation that watches are made/released in "batches" and the OP is curious how many of such batches we've seen of that watch?

Also, to the OP: Is that a typo in your post, or did the price increase by $300 (rolex.com still shows $6,450, but perhaps AD said otherwise?)?

No one could possibly know of the particular quantity of production made, my guess(as many as they wish) the higher the demand the higher the production, until a newer version drops

Maybe I heard it on a video someone saying it was $6,750. I could be incorrect with that figure. Yes I am wondering how many production runs of the ss explorer 1 were made. I would gauge this by watching how many new waves so to speak of explorers hit grey dealers and chrono. For example you would at first see explorers on the grey market this would be the first wave. then you would see less new explorers on the grey market signaling the end of the first batch being sold. then when you see a new influx of watches that would signal the second wave or that the second production cycle was sold. They can only make so many production runs of the ss explorer 1 per year. I doubt rolex is continuously manufacturing explorers 1 ss. They do it in batches or production runs. How many production runs is what I'm curious about. Someone who has their finger on the pulse of the market might know this or have a guess. I think there has just been one production cycle.

I got mine on Friday. I only waited about 3 months and I’m no one special so I’d imagine based off that that they’re made in okay numbers.
