Is the Tudor BB58 loosing its desirability.
A recent YouTube video by a Watch Trader stated that the BB58 was loosing its desirability as a must have watch.
They stated that they are being flipped in increasing numbers by owners and there is a glut of them on the Grey Market. While still priced above retail, they are not moving. They are currently not fetching a premium over MRRP I guess the newness/ social media pimping/ scarcity / hype was a driving force up until now , but the next biggest and best watch from Tudor (Chrono) has been released and is overshadowing what is essentially, a good watch. Personally I love the black and blue version, and if I can get one at a good discount, thats great. So in your experience is the BB58 hype receding? |

Don't care about Hype or popularity on social media. I bought mine cause I think its a fantastic looking watch. Could care less about resale value as I have zero plans to ever sell it.

These watches are not hard to find. Therefore, they cannot command a lasting premium. I purchased mine for retail from a trusted seller. Worked out for me because I didn’t pay tax.
You can find lightly used ones for as low as $3200 from what I’ve seen recently. |

I couldn't care less. I buy what I like, not what some vapid narcissist is pimping on social media.

Great watch. I think it wears small though. Not ideal for some of us with larger wrists.

Yes, i think the hype has died down.
Got one at my AD, wore it almost exclusively for 12 months. I recently bought a new sub and haven’t really worn it much in the last few weeks. I think it’s a great watch and the price makes it really attractive. I didn’t think they were all that hard to get and the secondary market prices were a bit laughable. If you can’t get one at retail, you can get one on the secondary for very close or maybe even under for slightly worn. It’s an awesome watch and i wouldn’t think of getting rid of mine. I love everything about it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If the popularity of a watch is a significant factor to the person buying it, then it was likely a moot purchase to begin with.

Certainly appears so. My last visit to an AD was the first time I've ever seen one chilling in the display case. Salesperson said much fewer people come in looking for them now, same thing that happened to the GMT about a year ago.
I guess the hype just died down. |

Seems how it goes with Tudor. I have been called twice for the silver BB58 and twice on the new chrono. And already on the new release. Lots of hype at first. Then things settle down. GMT’s were hard to find. Now they sit.

Funny, I think i saw the same video a few minutes ago lol. Read to me as clickbait in a way or just creating content for contents sake. The youtuber I just saw is also a seller of watches including the BB58.

Missed the memo. Just sold my SubC as I prefer the bb58. If I was like OP and based my desires on YouTube and insta I guess I would say I made a big mistake. But. I’m good!

I think the hype is fading, but it doesn't make it any less a great buy at retail price

How come grey dealers have not been buying and selling these watches among themselves to keep prices high like they do for Rolex watches?

I’m seeing the blue one on a bracelet in ADs all the time now. This watch is very easy to get if you want one. 6 months ago, I never saw this in the display case.

People are finally realising that it is just a good little watch, no more and certainly no less.
We've seen it time and again with Tudor, their GMT was hard to get and then 18 months goes along and they become more available / less desirable. Same for the original BB58, then the blue and now the Tudor Chronos are having their turn. In one year from now they will also be readily available on the high street. |

I think THIS is what will happen when finally the availability catches up with the demand.
Everyone who wanted a BB58 is now finally able to get one without paying a premium. This is the way it should be in a normal world. Too many people bought the watch for the wrong reasons. I love my BB58 blue - got one of the first and love it. But it shows that nothing will last forever and while there is currently insane demand for everything Rolex - we might see the same happening with specific models in the Rolex catalog too. Example: My two tone Sky Dweller on the Jubilee bracelet, black dial. Not the most popular Sky Dweller by a long shot, the pre-owned premium is there - but not that much. Cellinis continue to trade under retail, maybe some other models will follow? |

They are great and I love them - but they are well priced at retail new - no need for premiums. |

Hyped.
Its an excellent value for money watch. Brilliant in fact. Wears so well. However I suspect that this could be "overly" produced by Tudor. Kinda like Omegas trying to mass produce quality products but results in less value down the line. However as many as said here, its a watch to enjoy. Not a watch to flip |

When you see a model unsold in multiple dealer’s display cases you may be able to infer Supply exceeds Demand. It’s this or funny games with stock being hidden.

I found out my local AD was churning out far more Tudors thru phone calls and wait lists.
I think you would be surprised quite how many of these mass produced watches are sold using this "rare" hard to get technique. |
