What is allocation like in Doha, Qatar?

I'll be heading there for the FIFA World Cup later this year and am wondering what my odds are of landing a decent Rolex. Do they sell to tourists?

I’m going too and expecting there to be zilch - won’t even bother looking. There’s enormous wealth there and I highly doubt they’ll be selling to tourists.

as long as you don't criticise their slave labour regime and deaths in building their stadiums for their corruptly won world cup bid....you may have a chance.

About as much chance as FIFA admitting they only awarded the World Cup to Qatar following numerous bribes!

Only someone who hasn't travelled to mid-east would ask this question.

There's enormous wealth there and people love to flash their jewelery. Even when Gold is prohibited for Muslim men.

Your chances are zilch for a SS model IMHO.

As above, zero percent.
Many ADs around here have zero for walk ins. It likely won’t be much different there. At a push a tiny 28mm diamond encrusted datejust…..but I have a funny feeling that’s not what you’re after

When was this? In the last few months even DJ36 in steel have been tougher to get (especially with a desirable dial eg azzurro, Wimbledon etc). Either way, he’s likely looking for a sub or a GMT

They have (had) very few pieces available and most locals come to London, NYC and other major cities to purchase what they want.

Thanks for the geography lesson.

My comment was about the middle east in general.

Questions like this are so pointless and are only asked by people who haven't travelled much, particularly to the Middle East.

Firstly, the shortage is truly worldwide it's just a fact of life now living in a globalised world.

Secondly, you need to understand the Middle East particularly the Gulf countries are completely different societies. The people that will get first dibs (and by this I mean it won't even be delivered to the shop it will go straight to the palaces/villas via VIP service) is:
1) Royal Families - Al Thani, Al Maktoum, Al Nahyan etc
2) Influential Local Families - Al Suwaidi, Al Kaabi, Al Ketbi, Al Marzooqi
3) Expat ULTRA rich VIP/Influencers

You might get lucky and get a 36mm stainless steel DJ but don't hold your breath for anything better.

For a good idea watch 'DubaiExpat' videos on Youtube he frequently films around AD's and did one a few months ago in Doha on a business trip.

It's truly depressing going to watch shops nowadays it's just lady 31mm datejusts.

My sentiments exactly. Wonder which part of 'worldwide shortage' do they not understand.
