Submariner 16613 Clasp

I have an L series 16613 with the blue dial. I've worn it daily for nearly 30 years. I need to have the buckle replaced, actually jus the part with the Crown stamped in it.

Does anyone know if Rolex will replace just that piece? or do i have to buy a new buckle for...... wait for it....... $1200 USD.!

Half tempted to buy a fake just for the part.

Maybe if you’d like it to look a bit better there are watchmakers who can polish the clasp carefully without polishing off the crown. Photos might help.

OP, what is wrong with the clasp hood? Why does it need to be replaced?

OP - I fear you may be thinking that a clasp (buckle) that opens too easily is defective or expired. Rolex clasps from that era can be simply adjusted to give them a firm closing action again. Basically it entails slightly bending the two butterfly sections in a certain way.

Is this your problem? If so, do let us know and we can help you so that it’s closing tightly like new again.

Sounds like you have the all stainless steel clasp and not the gold center strip.
Yes you can buy it from AD/RSC.
I checked on one a few weeks ago and was quoted $600 for the clasp only.
Of course with a new one the date stamp will not match your watch mfg date code.

You'd be surprised what you can do by a little expert manipulation of the two blades and the two overhanging click fangs... to get it back to running smoothly and retaining originality. Even had a fang replaced (by Lazer weld) once on upperclasp and it worked fine !
