It's interesting....you can almost see the progression of the crash in the orientation of the scratches.

It looks as though the bezel was at the 12 oclock position when the rider fell. The scratches are more shallow, and close to perpendicular with where the bezel would've been. It would indicate a higher speed - uniform in orientation, very crisp, etc.

The rubbing on the ground looks to have rotated the bezel, and as the rider slowed, the scratches become more prevalent on the 3 oclock side. As he slowed down, the scratches become deeper and less uniform in direction.

....hope he was able to walk away from that one with little more than a banged up bike and watch!
