My First Rolex!

Just bought my first rolex (2018 Datejust (126300) 41mm in Rhodium Dial) from a private seller and took it to a verified rolex retailer to confirm authenticity and it checks out to be authentic. It came with everything(box, manual, extra links, card, and all tags). I bought it for $6,450 but the only thing was that it was pretty scratched up as he used it as a beater watch lol. I wanted to post pictures of it up close and detailed to see what your guys opinion on it. Was it a good price for the condition it's in and all contents it came with? and should I get it serviced at rolex for polishing or will that tremendously affect value?

You were either prepared to buy it in that condition and wear it, or you bought it at what you considered a fair price, intending to have it serviced and polished. I would just stick to the original plan.

I would sent it to the RSC, spent a little and get it back looking brand new and all the previous owner DNA and history removed.
Afterwards make your own memories.

Your question regarding value; it will have a positive effect. Brand new looking watches are much more in demand than scratched up examples.

Send it to LA Watch Works. They are experts in restoration. They just did my 16710 and it looks brand new. Should cost about $650. Sounds like a lot but it’s a $6,000 watch and if the marks bother you it’ll be worth it not to have an inexperienced person over polish.

I'd send it in for service/polishing to start fresh and then add my own scratches.

I still think it's beautiful. The scratches wouldn't bother me, but I'm sure they're accentuated because the light from your camera is hitting right on it. Enjoy your "new" watch.

Congratulations on your purchase!! You could send it off to the RSC which will give you a service card and new owner history for the watch. Enjoy it!!!

Would hardly call that watch like you put pretty scratches up by picture just normal wearing scratches.I would wear it for a few years yet and as long as it keeps good time have service in a few years time.Just wear and enjoy your watch in good health for a few years, now thats far more important than a few tiny wearing surface scratches.

It’s not awful by any means and could easily be brought back to new.

I would happily wear it as is and when the watch hits the 10-12 year mark (2028-2030) send it in for service address it then….unless it really bugs you now.

Neat Aston Martin ad, but their spell checker is a big fail. Really “ pre owed”.
