Winding the date backwards.
Is it bad for a watch movement to wind the date and or day backwards?
I'm talking as a general rule. I frequently cross the international date line and on the eastwards journey lose a day necessitating putting the date back a day. I've got several watches I need to do this with (rolex GMT II, Tudor date/day, Grand Seiko quartz). Does it vary between different movements? Thanks for any input.

I have a 1675 with 1570 movement and have been told by multiple watchmakers, including the gentleman who serviced my watch, that it is ok to turn the movement backwards. That said, I cannot weigh in on the other movements.

Thanks for that, hopefully one of the watchmakers here will chime in.

You have been able to turn the time/date backwards on Rolex movements for decades.
With the GMT II, since it does not have a quick-set date, they even tell you to jump the hour hand backwards or forwards, depending on which way is closest to the date you want.
