Has this Daytona been polished?

Looking at possibly acquiring the Daytona below. Would appreciate any input on whether or not it has been polished

There you go. Small scuff on the bottom right hand side. Understand there are a few hairlines as well.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t the lugs on a Daytona quite rounded anyway? I know they’re not symmetrical either.

Looks good but I can only offer my opinion that if the case has some marks the bracelet should show some wear, so I would say it has been polished. Very well though. I would not have an issue owning this watch if the price was reasonable.

Have to agree but today there is a anti polish syndrome with many today god knows why, as long as any polish is done correctly then no problem no matter the watch.

Yes the lugs are fairly rounded. Below are a some photos of my fairly new Daytona to help you make some comparisons. It was bought new from my AD in Jan 2023 and is picking up plenty of battle scars!

Thank you. I can’t quite tell from your photos, but on this watch, on both sides of the case, the left and right lugs aren’t exact even. Is that the case with yours? Could be my eyes!

The lugs on the side of the watch with the crown/pushers are thinner and that’s normal.

One of the changes made to the newer 12 digit SS Daytona’s is to make the lugs the same on both sides.

Sorry I mean when you rotate the case so you’re looking at the lugs from the side, on the same side of the watch. On the side without the pushers, it looks like the right hand lug has less slope than left

Finding a completely unpolished preowned watch is exceedingly rare. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a good polish at service. The question is, is it poorly polished. That Daytona looks good to me but it’s certainly been polished. Otherwise you’d have more scratches on the PCLs.

Looks good and properly maintained which means no gashes that require more than a mild buff to look new with factory lines.
There is way too many stages of “polished” to blindly lump all watches into the term of a negative light.

I think I follow you. Below are your photos. Below is the 5th photo from this thread and clearly the angle isn’t great which to makes the lugs loom different.



Your below photo, the first in this thread, again doesn’t quite have the best angle but it makes me think they are likely identical.



Are we now at least looking at the same thing?

Who cares if it’s been polished?
It looks really nice and is not brand new unworn.
Used is used no matter how you chalk it up, so pay according to it being pre owned and worn by someone.

It has most likely been polished, but it looks anazing. I don’t see any soft edges. If I were buying used, I’d want a watch that looks as good, as that Daytona does. Go for it!

Looks great!! I do not see any signs of polishing. The fact that some very fine hairlines and minor blemishes are visible supports the notion that it has not been polished - at least, not recently.

Nevertheless, the clasp coronet looks perfect. The lines and definition of the lugs, together with the grains of the brushed components of the bracelet, look factory to me. I notice there is still a factory sticker on the clasp.

I do not believe OP was asking for input on people's thoughts about whether polishing is bad or good. He was simply asking whether people can provide input or insight as to whether this particular watch has been polished or refinished.

Watch looks great. It is difficult to discern in these photos. If the watch has been touched up, it has been done with a light hand, I don't see any rounding issues from the photos

As to the grain in the brushed area from the bracelet, it does not come from the Rolex factory perfect either.

Maybe touched up, but not heavily polished. Looks good to my eyes, but if you prefer never touched... this might not be the one
