Grey Market getting cheaper
Bored at the weekend so went looking at a few grey dealers shops ,
Haven't the prices come down of note was the blue sky dweller now available at £16000 ..... which for 2k over retail means you don't need to do the buy 10 watches you don't want. , the batman's batgirls, were 13 and explorer 11s were again 1.5k over list , subs were again 1.5k over I had not realised how much they have come down .. The blue skydweller seemed a relative bargain when you compare RRP to grey price when you look at weight times and spend history to buy from an AD.. has it lost favour |

I'm on the list for a SkyD too and if prices keep dropping I might not wait for much longer, esp if I decide to go Oyster.

What year was the Blue Sky Dweller you found?
Agree prices have come down but the ones I find around £16k tend to be towards the end of their warranty and showing signs of their age A 2023/2024 at £2k over retail would be a instant buy for me! |

However I do note £17/18k is getting you a new card 2021/22 or so on oyster which is remarkable value based on where they used to be. Doing the AD dance on this one is a long game, so grey is definitely appealing. |

With pre-owned watches the devil is in the details. What year is the watch, oyster or jubilee, is the watch complete with warranty/manuals. Prices have adjusted but you have to compare apples to apples.

Most replies refer to obviously "used" watches. Grey market is brand new stuff, unworn with warranty not swiped or just swiped. I suspect the flow of new watches into the used watch market arena has slowed a lot of late. People buying now from ADs are tending to keep their hard earned prizes and not re-seling as quickly.

Yes, prices have come down significantly. Even the LV sub has 30% or so premium. Combination of higher retail and lower secondary values.

There has been some tightening of prices but most decent references are well above retail in the US.

If you opted for a different colour on the dial the SKYD can be had for a fair bit less than the £16k

The issue with SKY-D is that you really have to try it before purchase. It look very bad on some wrist, and very good on others.

I recently tried on the RG Blue/Green and it looked perfect on my wrist, that's why I might go Oyster on the SS, altho it could have been the stunning dial colour as well.

I dont know man.....$8500 for an OP41 is wild to me. Thats what like a 40% markup? I've tried offering several greys a fair 7-7.2k and got laughed at.

I dont know specifically about the OP41 but try selling a watch to the used dealers and see what they offer..it’ll probably be at or below retail. Even for the BRLO, if you’re a dealer with 2-3 in stock do you really want to offer 20k of capital to buy one? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Don't think that's totally true. I purchased my AK from a B&M in 2019 and the watch was ordered for me from an AD in Spain. New, full set with my name on the card. Also, purchased a DJ41 Blue from another B&M and it was also new, full set, both at MSRP.

Prices are coming down, while the high demand timepieces still remain above retail (in the US).
I finally bit recently on SkyD Blue on Oyster. It was a 2021 in pristine condition, B&Ps, still with a few stickers attached. I still paid above retail, but only about 15%. Felt worth it to me at that price point. My first above retail outside an AD. |
