We made it to the castle after 3pm today after going to the health clinic and then having lunch in Launceston. It had been rainy this morning then spotty sun, but the light became brilliant just in time! We stayed on the grounds until just before 4pm, the light changing the whole time.

Couldn't get up the hill as that bit was closed, but you can get a feel for the place from the pics.

The main entrance into the wall

The gateway up the hill

Couple of views down the hill from the castle across Launceston and the countryside

I'm really looking forward to getting up to the main castle someday! Joshy had a blast running around and climbing up the walls

How funny!!!

I have a similar set of pics that I took of similar looking ruins about three years ago.

Even some of the angles of the castle!

Thanks Paul! It is really pretty. We drove by that castle every day for two weeks last year when we first went house hunting, and every day I said I want to take pics down the hill. We've now lived here since May, well really July for me and now live 2 miles outside of Launceston, and today is the first time I've set foot inside the grounds of the castle! Funny how even when you don't have a job to go in to every day, you still get so busy with life that you don't seem to have time to see the area you live in

Beautiful pics, Bruce. Exquisite countryside. It's just what you picture England to look like in the imagination.

But think of the poor folk who had to live in that place (how many - 1000 years ago?). Not very comfortable looking.

Thanks Ed and JJ! You're so right Ed. Those places must've been terribly uncomfortable and they were the rich folk. Imagine how the normal-poor folks lived!!

Great pictures Bruce reminds me of parts of Wales.Great Britain has some wonderful contryside,its a pity most times the weather spoils looking at it.
