Colouring Lume
What is the best process to colour lume (particularly modern luminova or superluminova) to have the same cream colour as vintage tritium?
Is it just “staining” or colouring the lume, or does it need to be removed and replaced with different colour lume? I appreciate that this is not everyone’s cup of tea also ;) |

I’ve seen this done on YouTube with weak coffee (modding a very low price watch).

If you want to stain existing lume without replacing it, don't use anything organic (like coffee or tea) since it could begin colonization of mold.

I think you'll have to remove and replace the lume. The guy on Wristwatch Revival did this. He removed the existing lume, then mixed a dye into white lume and repainted the hands. There are a variety of dye colors available.

And just would the point no luminover dial is ever going to see any patina if you want this type of dial buy a Tritium one, but even some of these show little or no patina unless artificial done.
