16570 dial exchange query
Hi All,
Have any owners of an original black dial explorer 2 (16570) sent their watch to RSC for a dial exchange from black to white, and have Rolex fulfilled this request? I have a 2010 16570 and am looking into the possibility of changing the dial colour. Any responses most welcomed. Thanks. |

Likely not in the UK. Could be wrong. I know some RSCs in Asia are still said to do such things.

The white dials (especially super lumi) are cheap as chips. May as well buy secondary.

You'll also need different hands.
The UK RSCs are fast to respond and will tell you exactly what is possible and what isn't. We can only guess. |

Keep us updated because this was a request Rolex UK have accepted until things changed in around 2017.

Mine is an '08 16570 black.
The lume is shot, especially apparent on the skinny minute hand. Curious as to cost of a dial/hands replacement |

Hi All,
Thanks to everyone for their replies to my original post. I've contacted Rolex, and as per Becca1's post above, a dial & handset exchange is possible but only if the watch undergoes a full service at the same time (which is what I want doing as well anyway). With regard to the cost, I've been quoted an estimate of £700 for the full service (which may change once Rolex have inspected the watch), and £535.20 for the polar dial and matching handset. So all-in I'm looking at £1,235.20. I also asked whether the original black dial and handset on the watch would be returned to me after the service and dial exchange, however Rolex were unable to confirm if this would happen. I've made the decision to book the watch in for a full service along with the dial exchange. Many thanks to everyone who took the time to respond to my original post. |

Good to know this can still be done in the uk as I’ve seen several posts suggesting otherwise. A little odd that they don’t know if you can keep the original dial and hands as this is something I would want to know before I sent it in.
Best of luck with it! |

Weak short duration in the dark, minute hand nearly invisible (broader in the 6 digit ) Heard that the Lume weakens after 10 years Bought from an AD in ‘21 with a full service and 2 year warranty |

I recently purchased a 2000 16570 Polar to go along with my 14060M. I wanted a few watches that have that old school vibe of visible lug holes on the case and the visible adjustment holes on the clasp. Love my modern, more refined pieces, but these two are special. I have to say that I like the Polar more than I thought I would. I find the dial easy to read. I wish you well.

My buddy did one recently. He bought an authentic set of white dial and hands from first class dials for under $1,000 (note: they were all luminova)
He loves the "new" look and retained the old set.
