Do AD’s leave stickers on exhibition pieces?

My AD has some exhibition pieces without stickers on them. A few have all of the stickers on them and run. What’s the deal?

I always assumed it’s a legitimate piece with an exhibition hang-tag on it.

Especially if they have serial #’s and not “Not for sale” laser engraved on it somewhere (like the reverse of a lug)

Curious to hear other’s responses.

No exhibition tags on the one I want and no engravings. It’s got all of the stickers on it with the normal hang tags.

That’s crazy. I thought the exhibition pieces were allocated and eventually sold after a certain time period. That sucks if they are removing the stickers on allocated pieces to be sold meanwhile walk ins are trying on and handling your watch … weird times

Before the hype demand the watches in cases were fully stickered and you could even request one not on display still in the coffin

All exhibition pieces I have tried on at my AD were unstickered with white hang tags attached.

All stickers on. My two most recent purchases including my 126500 came with every single sticker on.

Most of the time stickers are kept to safeguard the watches from scratches as "exhibition" pieces are only displayed for certain period of time they are either allocated or to be sold at the discretion of the AD. I have bought an exhibition piece this summer that was fully stickered.

No AD I've come across in my region has had stickers on watches. It's been that way for many years. In the old days it was common that watches were stickered. Miss the old days of getting watches directly from the "safe" in the back - fresh out of their watch coffins...

So AD’s can sell exhibition pieces at their discretion?

I've never seen "exhibition" pieces with stickers, and yes, all the pieces are sold after sitting in the case for a short period of time.

The blue op41 I tried at Goldsmiths in the UK did not have stickers. My usual independent AD keeps stickers on and only removes when the client collects, even if on display.

Never seen a sticker at the AD, nowadays hang tags, yes, even when you buy a new piece they bring it from the back with the stickers removed in the box. Yes, the exhibition pieces are sold when it is convenient for them. I even believe that they use allocated pieces for display.

So it’s kinda unusual to see them with them on.

I’m not sure why we are still getting hung up on exhibition pieces.

It is no different to any other jewellers, Rolex ADs get sent stock to sell. They used to keep them all in the safe to make us think they only got sent half a watch every 6 months. These days they temp us with exhibition pieces, of course these are for sale to the right person, or when the area manager / store manager thinks it's time for a change, then exhibition pieces will get sold and a fresh watch exhibited in its place.

Yes, the AD has stock. No, they still won’t sell it to you.

If it makes you feel better, tell yourself that Hans Wilsdorf himself has already allocated all exhibition pieces until the year 2047. Conversation over.

No. And it will be next to worthless.

Hang about by the back door. ADs will be chucking unstickered Rolex in the bins.

I have purchased a couple watches gray (Including a 126506, a heavy hitter hard to get) and they were full full stickered. Very interesting.

Hi, what stickers are people referring to? Over the glass and back? I was offered an exhibition Explorer today and it had no stickers on.

I have been on a waiting list for over a couple of years for one but heard nothing. Popped into an AD today on off chance and they offered me the exhibition model. Slightly unsure as when you spent that kind of money you kind of want something untouched.🤔 From what I have read people are picking up an Explorer now in a matter of months.

Whether they got stickers on or off when any watch bought new they all get the same warranty.
