Speedmaster Pro Small Seconds

Hi,

I hadn't worn my speedmaster professional moonwatch 311.30.42.30.01.005 for a few weeks. I went to wind it up last night and set it to get it ready to wear today and the small running seconds didn't start running once it was wound. I started the chronograph and that seemed to unstick the small running seconds hand. This morning the watch seems to be keeping time and the small seconds is still running. Is this an issue with the 1861 movement? My watch was serviced about 2 years ago and a new main spring was installed. The watchmaker said i was overwinding and it caused issues with the mainspring so I've been very careful not to overwind since getting it back from service.

Thanks

I doubt this is a problem. I'll bet it just needed a jostle to get going. My guess is you won't encounter further trouble.

Your experience with the Speedmaster's small seconds hand is not uncommon, especially after a period of inactivity. As long as your watch continues to keep time accurately and functions properly after this incident, it may not indicate a serious problem. However, ongoing issues should be addressed by a professional to ensure longevity and optimal performance of your timepiece.
