I assume you are joking. If you asked it seriously I would say that I store it in a safe, wear it under a shirt like most expensive watches, no problem wearing it in a restaurant/theatre/cocktail/event. It’s a “normal” gold watch and you store it and wear it like a gold watch, if you asked it seriously

I see people saying "buy what you like" and I agree, but, maybe buy what you'll like in five years might be a better thing to consider.

I started collecting with a '57 YG Datejust on a jubilee and a '59 YG Thunderbird with arrowhead indices on an alligator strap. Good choices I think. My appreciation for them is growing with time.

What are peoples opinions on the John Mayer?

Yellow gold Daytona with green dial, named after the singer, because he often wears one. The Paul Newman is more to my taste, for a Daytona.

Decided to go with the WG/blue and the Newman instead of the Mayer green dial. I get my splash of color and a classy YG Daytona for a little more money.

Got this on the way but no luck sourcing the Newman so far.

I like the Mayer. No way I would pay what they are asking right now. My AD had one for over a year and eventually sold it below msrp, obviously before the hype. I also would rather have the Newman Dial.

I had one on the right a while back: it does feel special,
but I couldn't get past the christmas vibe of all green with red highlights.

It's normal to feel a bit nervous about trying out a new style, but remember, confidence is key when wearing any watch.

Might be heresy to some, but I do not like the color green

Ended up with the WG/Blue dial and the YG/Green dial. Two different watches really for a very different look. Glad I passed on the Newman even though I like it ... the color variation in the dials in different light conditions make 'em special. Thanks everybody for your comments. it really helped me make the best choice.

I absolutely don't like his music even if he seems to be a decent guy. But why are you posting about an artist under a Rolex thread? There is an open discussion forum to talk about things other than watches.

He’s pretty good at playing guitar. I heard he did some Hodinkee videos as well.

My opinion is that it should not be named the John Mayer.

What’s not to like, dial really pops and com-plummets the yellow gold …

I can’t think of any Rolex not hyped, by rappers, influencers, multitudes of YouTube guff videos by goofball grey dealers, I agree Daytona is hyped through the roof you are correct old chum, but Rolex by brand is such a hyped commodity …

Any time a watch gets this much hype I'm alienated. As far as Jon Mayer is concerned, he a bit too egotistical for me. He's a great guitarist but I can't listen to his pop crap.
