126528LN as walk in?

I walked into my favored retailer today and managed to pick up the 126528LN.

If you haven’t had a chance to check out one of the new references with the display back I suggest visiting your local trusted retailer and taking a look at one.

I was originally in the “meh why show it” camp but I have since changed my mind on it after seeing in person. I’m so used to nothing going on in the back that I didn’t even check until after I had already been wearing it.

This one is going to be a “mostly daily” for me I think, very comfortable and cool with the vintage cues and red 100.

In conclusion, I highly recommend buying this reference from your favorite AD or boutique.

I’m not generally a yellow gold guy but that one looks perfect in it. Wear it in good health.

Thanks for posting pictures and if you have more it would be interesting to see them.

If you want to tell us about the real story on this purchase that would also be interesting.

Sure I’ll take some pictures today in different lighting.

The real story is that I am a humble collector who has enjoyed a long relationship with my AD. They surprised me completely with this, I wasn’t expecting to ever get one. Something good at some point, yes; but this exact reference who knows as it’s difficult to come by.

The original white gold version I liked, but when this one was introduced in YG that would be the ultimate version of the reference for me, versus any future combos like RG or Platinum if Rolex ends up doing the Patek thing and releasing it in the other metals.

Who knows what they’ll do and like getting one in the first place it is impossible to predict.

Unfortunately I don’t have a Daytona collection to compare it to side by side, but aside from the obvious visual differences on the dial it is less overtly black than I remember their usual black dials being. I do have some other Rolex references with black dials and if they make an interesting comparison I will post it.

You must have quite some history with your AD.

I thought the WG version appeared on the website back in 2023. Maybe misremembering. This one seems to be absent so it’s not possible to check what colour they’re calling the dial. It looks similar to Sea Dweller intense black in pictures but unlikely to be that matt finish.

Look forward to some more pictures and congratulations on the new watch.

126528LN as walk in?

Congrats and thanks for the recommendation! Was unsure about this one but after seeing your post I’ve changed my mind

Going to my AD today to see if they have one sitting in the back. I’ve heard that PM watches are supposedly easier to get from AD’s lately, so this one may even be on display for sale.

Will keep everyone updated.

Yeah, if anything it reminds me a bit of something like the Speedmaster 60th which is trying to look vintage.

It’s obviously not close to that degree on the Le Mans and looking at the other pictures I took last night it’s hard to see what I’m talking about. I’ll try to take a good picture of it today in better lighting.

The dial looks pretty black in this one, but you can see the YG color better.

Reminds me of the time I stopped by my Patek AD and they offered me a 5711P...

Seriously, very cool watch. I love the vintage vibe. That would be an amazing watch to daily!

The thing is folks, I’m still a bit in shock on this one. This wasn’t one where I went to the store knowing I was picking up a watch, so they pulled a fast one on me as I am fond of doing here on the forum myself.

There are not many days in the collecting hobby where you can pick up a crazy piece like this no matter what level you’re buying at or where you’re starting.

Some people collect vintage watches and look for a specific reference in a certain condition and when they eventually find it; it’s like getting hit by lightning.

For others like myself who enjoy modern pieces, some may be more into movements or complications, movement finishing, etc… I appreciate all of those things but for me a piece like this which is rare, has a tie back to the past, but also has all the latest bells and whistles from Rolex in terms of their movement performance AND a unique movement just for this watch; well…

Let’s face it, it also looks amazing!

Was telling my AD I felt sad I didn’t buy the JM 116508, at the time it came out I immediately liked it; the YG/green combo is awesome but at the time I didn’t pull the trigger because compared to what I was collecting then I didn’t think it had the horological oomph.

Over time in this hobby you gradually learn what you like and what you want to keep in your collection. As AP calls it, a journey. You start somewhere and walk on a path that goes to a destination you’re maybe not even sure of. You might think you know where it’s going when you start, but there are twists and turns and maybe you don’t end up where you thought you would.
