Royal Oak 15400 vs VC 4500v

Considering a new purchase and am strongly considering going with one of these two options. I'd be interested to hear from those who have experience with these watches.

A few of my considerations/thoughts to spur conversation:

15400 would be black dial, 4500v would be blue (cost considerations here, still a bump for AP even with color differential).

How flashy are the two in comparison to one another? I work in an industry that I would prefer for most to not understand what I have on my wrist. There are times I would likely avoid the AP but would feel confident that anyone who recognized the VC would be a watch person I could connect with if they noticed. Also not looking to attract attention in public other than people who really like watches.

a good fit on the bracelet is a big deal for me and will affect wrist time. The micro adjust on the VC gives me a lot of confidence I can get a great fit. Would love to hear experiences for the AP both in terms of how finely tuned the basic fit can be and considerations for daily wear wrist swelling.

Appreciate all feedback!

The blue on the Overseas is one of the best blue dials out there. It will be eye catching than the black dial but as you stated, those that know VC will likely be watch guys.
I think the AP will be more noticeable as it has become more mainstream over the years.
Finishing I give the edge to AP as I think they might do it better than anyone.
I can't comment on bracelet fit as I have not owned a VC. I had no issues with the Royal Oak though.
Two can't miss pieces in my opinion. Enjoy the process!

Having owned several AP and never owning VC I lean more towards the VC. Personally I love the black dial. The bracelet seems much more comfortable. I have to admit that the VC is on my short list.

VC without a doubt in this case as owner of both. I have the 4500 in RG and it such a versatile watch. The dial is amazing and the strap system is my favorite among brands. The case and movement carry the Geneva Seal so clearly well done and a notch above AP IMHO.

I've been doing a lot of research on this question after I posted it here... if reading through comment sections on youtube reviews counts as research. I'm surprised to see how many times the VC is the direction people take. I'd made up the majority of my mind before I posted this and I expected the results to challenge my conclusion rather than affirm. Obviously, the AP is an incredible watch and I would love to own one at some point but I am going with the VC. Thanks for the thoughts.

I have a feeling you’re paying for the brand with the AP, and with the VC you’re paying for the product.

the overseas is better in ever way. better finished movement, better water resistance. quick strap change system, includes different straps, best blue dial in the industry, cheaper too

Best choice is always : dont ask yourself metaphysical questions. Go see both on your wrist, and you will chose easely. Otherwise you could be disappointed or ending up selling the one to get the other.
Trust me I have done this mistake a couple Times hahaha.

Truth is that there was a lot more deliberation than what was shown here. I knew when I posted where I was heading, I was really curious if the forum would test my resolve.

One challenge when comparing things like this is that living in the Midwest there is just not much opportunity to see things like VC, AP, PP, Independents in person without considerable effort. I’ve gotten really good at knowing my wrist, knowing the features I value, and being able to translate specs and visuals from YouTube into how something will look in real life. Before the package arrived I’d never seen a third gen Overaeas in person (I’ve handled both previous gens), and I still have never seen a RO in person.

Nice post

I try to make purchases in a similar vein. I’ve had a few work out but I’ve still made my share of blunders
