I get my straps from Jean Rousseau boutique in NYC. You can do it online as well but in their boutique you meet with a designer and they walk you through all of their material options and can size the strap to your wrist. It is a fun experience to design your own. Link to their website is below.

Just got this one. Had an 1815 that I loved at first but never bonded with. Now I’m got the 1815 chronograph, which so far seems amazing—had been debating between the up/down and chronograph. The black dial just jumped out.

How do we feel about Lange servicing?

Hey folks. First time poster.

Great thread with lots of awesome pics and details.

I’m about to pull the trigger on a used 1815 chronograph 204.026 (I like the less cluttered dial of the 2nd gen, however they’re all amazing!) but the recent Reddit posts and YouTube videos (eg Watches in Singapore and Watch Enthusiast London) how terrible and expensive Lange servicing is gives me pause. Especially since most used watches are unserviced and probably in need of one by now…

I was hoping that these are outliers and maybe the general consensus is that Lange had gotten better. What do owners think?

Thanks!
Jonathan

problem with lange is the high servicing cost
i was told to service every 5 years (under maintenance scheme) which is far cheaper.
if your watch haven't been serviced for more than 5 years, they will park it under overhaul or restoration (which is easily 2-3x the maintenance cost)

lastly, the long waiting for servicing, both times i have sent my lange in.

1. 1815 Chronograph - for a rusted screw, took them 5 months, they have to send it back germany, probably do a service on it as well. that's covered under warranty

2. Lange 1 Plat - got it preowned without service history, sent it in, was charged under restoration, the total cost for full restoration servicing and case refinish - about 4.5k usd there about

both came back without issues

4.5k service for a simple Lange 1? That’s taking the piss.

Lange 1 Platinum, yes i was charged that amount.
It was never serviced since it left the factory
so restoration of the movement (includes replacing worn out parts) and full case refinish

Lange showing me the bill
