Final Wrist Shot

Not looking for sympathy. This happened months ago. I wanted to share at the time, but genuinely did not want the "condolences".

I wanted to share because it was a special moment for me. I have taken so many wrist shots with my dad throughout the years. This one was while he was in hospice. Of course, I only put it on him for the shot, as per his request. He was not regularly wearing it in the hospital.

That was the first night. We took him home the next day.

I got my love of watches from my dad. He did some work for Armitron when I was a kid. He used to bring some home for me from time to time.

He and I used to trade back and forth quite a bit as I got older. I bought him that DD2 years ago. He later "stole" my Explorer 2 while he was going through cancer treatment. That was about 6 years ago.

I do not lament his death. He was sick a long long time. I do however, celebrate his life and the time that I had with him. I love that we had watches to bond over.

As an aside this is why I bought the home in Fla, which I have made a quick mention or two about at times on here. I want to be close to my mother and I do not want her to be alone. I am back and forth quite a bit to NJ as I cannot uproot completely. But I did become a Florida resident, and I really do prefer it there. But I am going too far into the weeds now.

I just wanted to share what I think is a truly meaningful moment in any watch journey. And while I rarely get personal on the internet anymore, this was a moment of weakness and the old Seth has come out just a tiny bit.

Thank you for sharing Seth, I truly know what you went through.

I lost my dad this past fall.

This was his watch. Not valuable in the monetary sense but priceless to me.

I hope your mom is doing ok. Mine has had a lot of adjusting to do as we all have.

Did not mean to highjack your thread in any way.

You are a Good Man, Brother Seth! Your Dad really loved watches and that is something you will always remember. Bonds between parents and siblings are formed for life in may ways. I'm sure you have a lot of wonderful experience over the years to recall and cherish.

Take care of Mom and tell her you Love her Everyday! All the Best! Larry

Seth, we’ve never talked, but I’ve always enjoyed your posts and remember when you bought the DD2 for you dad, just because you wanted to, and I thought what a great guy and I’m sure your dad did too.

This post reflects the true sense of: Never forget where you came from, and the folks that help you get there.
As a son, you represent everything a father whishes his child turns out to be, when he becomes a man. God bless him, and you too.

I’m sorry for your loss brother. It’s probably not the right time to say it here but have to admit that VC looks made for you man.

I have my great grandfathers retirement pocket watch and my grandfathers retirement watch. Two of my most prized possessions.
