5 digit service inserts

Forgive me if this is the wrong place ask, but there use to be a member who seemed to have an endless supply of OEM 5 digit inserts for sale in the blister.
Does anyone recall his username? I couldn't find him in the sales forum.

Well aluminium inserts are quite cheap around now $75 direct from Rolex but third party sellers charge a lot more to those willing to pay.

Like Padi said: unless your looking for a faded look for a used insert just get the inserts from Rolex AD for about $75.

They will only allow an exchange through an AD. That means you have to send them your old one to get a new one. It's an attempt to keep people from selling them for hundreds of dollars on the second head market.

Like I mentioned to Padi, the AD's now have to do an exchange so if you want to keep your old insert, you need to by on the 2nd hand market.

Just checked with my local AD. For a 16710 GMT master II, they WILL NOT furnish you a different bezel from what it was originally spec’d to. If 16710LN, it shall remain a LN.

Price for identical LN bezel $61+$81 labor, and you do not get the old bezel back.

For the amount we spent on these, if you want to change to a OEM Rolex bezel in a different flavor, i.e. Coke or Pepsi KEEP all the bezels, I just don’t think it’s that big of a deal to spend a few extra bucks.

Bingo.

Here's a video on Rolex's updated policy. You will only be able to keep the non-original colored bezel inserts if you are grandfathered in and already own the inserts. But of course, Rolex reserves the right not to change them simply because you want an aesthetic change.

I live in NYC and swapped a black insert for a Pepsi one on my 16710 in November at the RSC on 5th Avenue.

They allowed me to keep the black insert and even put it in a little plastic case for me.

The total amount was $200 including labor for them to do the swap.

If you bring the Sub to an AD or RSC "insert-less" you get to buy an insert.

Just sayin'

These pesky things pop at the craziest times. Have a good "Davy Jones Locker" fishing tale ready, you'll get the insert you want.

I don’t think that’s true. I think you’ll get the insert that it was spec’d with at birth. Unless you want the insert it was born with. But I think he’s referring to a GMT, maybe not though.

Look a plain and simple fact the 16710 inserts were meant to be changed and back a few decades ago they were easy to get all three and change yourself. But when watches like the 16610 LV came out and there were those wanting to change from green to black insert or visa versa that's when it all mostly changed. Especially in the USA which is still a separate company from Rolex SA rest of the world.

Understood and I agree.

That’s why I recommend if you want to change inserts, purchase them yourself. I’m just saying you’re not going to be able to do that with AD’s anymore.
OEM inserts are not inexpensive, but they are worth it if you don’t want to compromise.

Frakis is the man on this forum for new OEM.
