Recent RSC Turn Around times?

Hi All-
I was wondering if anyone knows the turn-around time for the RSC on warranty work lately? I brought my BLRO in right about Thanksgiving, so almost exactly 2 months ago.

The AD says Rolex doesn't communicate with them at all, and they only know that warranty work is complete when the watch shows up in the mail. Unfortunately the 'lead' sales associate for Rolex (its a corporate jewelry store) left, so the replacement doesn't have any real Rolex experience, so doesn't really know (and couldn't tell me which RSC, though I'm in the Pac-NW, so I presume whichever is closest).

SO, I was wondering if anyone had recent experience and could share your timeframes?

My DSSD JC went to Dallas in early November and came back just before Christmas. Much quicker turnaround than I expected.

I dropped off a 16710 for a full service around the same time (NYC RSC) the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. It took exactly 3 weeks for it to be ready for pickup.

About 1 month from most reports.

Hmmm... I'll be at 2 months tomorrow, so it seems they are taking their time with mine! Nice to know it should be 'soon' at least.

It's tough to say exactly how long it takes for Rolex warranty work, but it can vary greatly depending on the repair and the RSC location.

Do you have actual confirmation on what date your AD shipped the watch to Rolex?

Also, what is the defect that requires servicing?

My understanding is it was mailed immediately. I gave it to them 11/26.

Over the course of a week, it went from almost perfect time wise to about a minute slow per day, 15s the first day, closer to 30 the second, and 45s by the forth day.

Ingot lucky in that the warranty expired in December, so I got it in right before that.

Well. You bought it in right after Thanksgiving. There was probably a backlog as a result of the holiday. Then you go into Christmas, another backlog. You'll probably get the watch back any day now I would guess.

That's my hope :) I am more just hoping to have a reasonable expectation. I don't doubt the two holidays didn't help, but knowing I'm "close" rather than "just starting the wait!" Is nice to know.

I’ve had two watches serviced (regular full service), in recent months and they both came back in 3 weeks

So I called in for details-

Apparently it was sent to a Seattle Service Center, though perhaps one associated with Ben Bridge.

Shipped out Dec 3, so about a week after I handed it to them (Nov 26).

He said service usually doesn't get back to authorize cost until 4 weeks, but since this is warranty it skips that. Otherwise all he can see is that it is at the Seattle service center.

THOUGH he did say it can be up to 6 months to get the watch back! I'm very much hoping that isn't the case.

Yep - not a Rolex Service Center - but a Ben Bridge center that services Rolexes.

For routine service it may not matter horologically -

5 digit sub full service was back on my wrist in 3 weeks.
This was in November/December of last year.

This is why it’s always best to send it yourself directly to the RSC, not an “authorized service center”.

I think sending yourself to RSC is the best option.

My Explorer is currently with RSC in the UK and they’re estimating 12 weeks.

Yep, this is unfortunately the lesson I learned. Frankly, I was close enough on the warranty (last month of it) that I wanted to make sure I got it into Rolex's hands (even if via the AD) that it wouldn't be a problem. I typically prefer to go through a shop anyway, as they have more experience with warranty work/give me a human to discuss it with if something goes wrong :)

As far as service, I have a local watch maker that I'd trust more, but of course I would be paying the cost here instead of Rolex.

The one thing I WISH I knew here was that they weren't actually sending it to an RSC, but to a SC that is Certified by Rolex (and I just recently learned there is a difference!). Whereas the RSC seems to have a 4-8 week turnaround in the US (or up to 12 for the UK member), it seems like the Ben Bridge one is as much as 6 months!

It stinks to be without my watch this long, but I have plenty of other watches to keep my wrist warm in the meantime.

Interestingly, I submitted my Railmaster to Omega for a warranty issue at the end of December, and I just got a message that it is on its way back to me already (along with a new White Speedy, which should be showing up around the same time)!

You can send the watch yourself to an RSC? I had no idea you can even do this? How do you contact them directly?

You can just email or call them. Should be a quick google search. I dropped one off at RSC Beverly Hills some time ago, we were in touch via email. They told me I could have also shipped it, but I was nearby at the time.

RSC Dallas, Texas

214-871-0500

Last I heard, RSC Dallas was not allowing drop off of a watch for service.

This was 2017, things may have changed at the Beverly Hills RSC since then

Yes, you can mail it in and they'll ship it back to you once the service is completed. Call (833) 765-3900 and speak with their a phone rep about instructions.

There is no longer the option to drop off/pick-up in person.

All calls to NY and Dallas RSC get routed to the same call center.

You can drop off your watch direct at Rolex St James in London but they don’t like to accept watches via post and either won’t ship back to you (must be collected in person) or if they do agree, the shipping charge is around £160

Sent my 1680 (new to me recently) in to Dallas RSC and confirmed it arrived one week ago. I called before I sent it to make sure that were still willing to work on a circa 1977 watch and they said yes. They were able to see in their system that it was last serviced, at least by Rolex in 2002, at which time I think a service dial and hands were done, because they are luminova and look great! It runs, but needs work on a loose bezel, general movement service/refurb, regulating and watertight testing. I don't want any polish or dial/hand work.

Still no estimate e-mail yet. They said it will take "up to 8 business days" to get me the estimate. I'm just hoping and praying for an estimate and not a rejection letter (due to age and lack of parts).

I'll post follow-ups if anyone cares, to share my experience with this vintage reference.

Of course, mere hours after I left on a week long trip (and while I was on the plane!) I got a voicemail that my watch is ready to pick up! So not the 6 months I was threatened with when I called. Overall ended up being about 10 weeks through the Ben Bridge service center in Seattle that my store sent it to .

Yeah they should have no issue servicing a mid 70s 1680.

Unfortunately, the "I don't want any polish or dial/hand work" is not going to fly when you send it to an RSC. They're totally disinterested in the vintage character of the watch. If the last record of Rolex servicing the watch is 2002, then you're going to get an estimate to do an overhaul on the watch no matter what. Even if the watch was overhauled last week by an independent watchmaker, they don't care - their records say 2002. Furthermore, whatever they deem to need replacement is exactly what you will do, or they will just send the watch back to you if you decline any portion of their estimate that they deem essential.

Maybe you get a different experience, but I've not heard of RSC not restoring the watch to factory condition, which always includes case and bracelet polish and replacing any part (including dials) they want changed.

This is why people choose to go to independent watchmakers with Rolex parts accounts to give you exactly the concierge service you are wanting.
