6263. Perhaps my favorite Rolex of all time. But I agree with others that it would likely live in the safe more than the Platona.

The Platinum is a beautiful piece, but I'd choose the 6263 over it in a heartbeat.

Can’t go wrong, either way. I think the Platona will feel more special and robust, especially because of the platinum.

There is only one Daytona and that's nothing in today's modern types,it's got to be the most over hyped Rolex watches ever, so for me it would be any of the true Daytona's like the 6263 range.

Platona if you wear the watch regularly. Vintage for special occasions. It’s probably a personal choice but I noticed that I am much more careful with vintage pieces. So Platona for me but it really comes down to the one you enjoy the most.

I think I am of the mindset mentioned here that for daily wear, the platinum works well, but perhaps in a larger collection like yours, having an awesome vintage Daytona would be great for special occasions.

This is kind of like "should I get the GT3RS or the F8" dilemma.
Exactly

As stated above there is a cool factor that just hits different from a modern watch. So long winded answer and vote for 6263.
Agreed!

Platinum Daytona is too heavy for me for regular wear. The 6263 is too rare. For me I'd rather have something more common and less at risk for major loss if slightly marked by wear.

I am coming in with the same thoughts. The weight difference between those two watches is immense. One will feel absolutely fragile and held together with paper clips where the other is a tank in weight and build.

4 digit is nice until you start holding and wearing it - it will seem like a flimsy cheap toy next to the robust modern day rolex.

I’ve have and wear both SS and platinum…I love the way both feel. Each one reminds me of what I’m wearing, in a good way.

Whereas with the 126506 I'd feel more free to wear it just about anywhere anytime due to it's modern construction.
126506 is my choice.

Same unfortunately!

I also fall under the I don’t want 100k in a watch I can buy a 99.9% version of for 25k (126500). I know this doesn’t apply to you Richard as you’ve had a lot of different brands at all price levels. Just my way for my cheap behind lol

Neither would be my pick to be honest - both extremely expensive. The vintage is beautiful but will likely feel underwhelming in terms of build quality. I find the colour combination on the platinum daytona less appealing than the new gold variants.

I think the daytona is a reference where the new models look super amazing and are as nice as vintage examples. I don't feel the same way about the sub or gmt models - vintage looks much nicer to my eyes.

Off topic but I would go with a steel ceramic daytona and new yellow/rose gold daytona on an oysterflex and also save yourself a bit of cash!

Yesterday I asked a couple young men, (early/mid 20’s) they are car guys and like watches as well. They were doing some work at the house yesterday. Both said PT Daytona and kind of had zero interest in the vintage, looking at the 6263 as if it looked “old” / not blingy enough. They said the liked it but didn’t compare to the new one.
I wasn’t shocked at their opinion
