I hate the word "entry level" for any Rolex. A Pepsi GMT is not better than an Explorer or Oyster Perpetual. It just costs more. And you don't need to work your way up the price ladder with Rolex. Buy what you want regardless of what the price is (assuming you can responsibly afford it).

I prefer the explorer, because of the 3-6-9 dial and classic clean look. The OP is also great.
Buy what you want and will enjoy, the price does not matter. The wait for any of those pieces should not be so long, most ADs give you a longer wait period, that way when it appears sooner they are hero’s. There is no bad decision here, whichever one you prefer. Cheers |

I have several OP41s so of your choices I would get one of them. Either blue or black could be a GADA one and done watch.

Get what you really want. The wait shouldn't matter. If you want my opinion go with the OP. I have a 41 green OP and love it.

Both tell the time
For me personally, I prefer the Explorer... but as a 39mm 214270 owner I'm biased. |

The longer you wait, the more chance of a price increase. Personally I prefer the Explorer anyway, and the shorter wait time would swing it for me.
But you are the only one who can decide. Don't let a load of strangers decide for you. |

Million Dllar Question
I’d wait in an explorer from the AD. Gives you more time to decide and paying less never hurts when it comes to long term ownwership. I love mine , my wait was about 8 months , yours could well be much less in the current environment If you want color the OP is the obvious choice If you want black I prefer the gloss dial of the Explorer to the sunburst dial on the OP. I love the green OP I much prefer the black Explorer to the black OP I prefer the 3/6/9 of the Explorer and the handset of the Explorer. I like the 19mm lugs and taper relative the the watch head size …. It gives the watch head more presence IMO. If you are truly undecided then waiting will give you clarity and protect you from over paying for a watch you may flip if you decide you wanted the other option. IMO the 36 mm exploring my 7 inch wrist is the perfect daily wearer/ GADA piece ..Explorer, Spring Diver & APRO.. |

Why wait? You can get both watches on the grey market for pretty much retail right now.

No brainer! Get the Explorer: It is the most affordable cool watch in the Rolex catalogue! I sincerely mean that, and I have an OP and a Datejust. I keep grabbing this one. Kat Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

A watch is not a necessity, so there's never a need to pay over retail!

OP 36 is sleek, versatile, and saves €1,200 perfect for everyday wear.
Explorer 36 is sportier, rugged, and arrives sooner, bringing a more adventure-ready vibe. Same movement, different personalities, both solid choices. |
