since you have a ro as well, have to ask - if you had to keep one, which would you choose between daytona and roc? currently in search of a chrono and am still torn between the two.

Here is the side by side. Really beautiful to see them side by side.

Thanks Kat!

I’m really very happy with my collection right now.

This is the current lineup

126610LV
126710 BLNR
16700 Pepsi
Milgauss (black dial and clear crystal - this is the OG in the group and the only definite permanent member of the collection for sentimental reasons)
The new acquired 126500LN

Tudor Pelagos 39 - my GADA watch

AP white dial RO
AP code 11.59 blue dial stainless steel

White dial speedy (not sure how this will fit in the collection now that I have the Daytona)

And a Panerai PAM 904 (this one was a bit of an impulse buy and out of my more deliberate character). Gets the least amount of wrist time right now.

Thanks

On Thursday I got a call that I never expected. I have a very good relationship with my Rolex AD and SA. I’ve mentioned to them before that a Daytona would be an aspirational watch for me someday. I had pretty much given up on it ever being a possibility. In fact, I even posted here that I was content with my white dial speedy and that between the AD games, grey market markup and hype, etc - I was over hunting down a stainless steel Daytona. I also vowed never to pay the grey market premium for that watch.

Well - fate is funny. I got the call on Thursday. It’s perfection IMO. Man…. I think I convinced myself that it just wasn’t that great since I never expected to get one. But it’s perfection.

My wife is ready to kill me for buying another watch already when I told her just one this year. She thinks that I’m making it up that these are hard to come by….. but she will forgive me someday! Ha!!

Awesome. Better to get it and beg for forgiveness. Do what I don buy your wife a nice purse or a van cleef bracelet. That always works for me.

Did you have any purchase history at AP? That’s definitely one I want to add but have no wants or plans to get a Code first.

I did. I went in to check out the RO and was introduced to the Code. I was specifically looking for a blue dial watch - and was smitten by this one. So I specifically requested it. The call for the Royal Oak came in surprisingly shortly after that. This is part of the reason for my wife’s “watch fatigue” - to use her words. Ha!

Here is the blue dial Code. It’s really stunning in person.

dang, this pic aint making the decision easier . side by side the ap looks more delicate compared to the robust daytona. the ceramic bezel and black sub dial rings really adds nice contrast compared to the ap too. thank you for the pic... decisions... decisions....

Is the RO a 39mm? I would have thought side by side AP would look larger?

Nice year for you, worst part about getting your grail is finding your next one!

No - the RO is the big one. 41mm. It wears really nicely and not as big as the size suggests.

Yes - I know!! I need a breather (both emotionally and financially) after this month! Ha!!

Yes! Congratulations on both additions.
Always nice to see these allocations in our beautiful state (assuming these were in CO).
