Calling all Lunar Lunatics

Came across these images of the moon and even though they're a few years old, thought they deserved a share.

Thanks for sharing these, Paul. There have been fantastic advances since the mid-sixties when the Lunar Orbiters took photos looking for Apollo landing sites. I was working at NASA's Goldstone Deep Space Instrumentation Facility in the Lunar Orbiter Mission Dependent Equipment area at the time.

Photos from Lunar Orbiters:

Great photos, and @Stan, extra cool!

I will say I prefer photos without the color adjustments, even if more “bland” than with the regrading. More authentic.

I sometimes take photos of the moon but use only neutral filters and then stack them for sharpness. I will dig some up sometime.
