Icon20 Long awaited return to Panerai

Hello everyone,

It has been several years since I owned a Panerai, and that was a lovely PAM0090 which I regrettably had to sell.
I’m now able to be looking at new watches, and despite what seems to be a log of negative Panerai press I still think they’re one of the best looking watches ever.

The PAM01361 looks sublime and I think that’s going to be my choice. I live in the UK and had a master plan to buy from Heathrow airport on a flight out to save the tax, only I’m a few years late and this is no longer a thing.

What I’m after is some good advice on getting the best deal. I travel overseas frequently so I certainly don’t have to buy in the UK. I’m also from a part of the country where money and people are parted only with great difficulty, so the better the deal the happier I am. I’m also really paranoid about fakes, and so the pre-owned market does appears like a minefield to someone who isn’t a huge expert.

Thanks in advance for any advice you are able to give, I’ll be very grateful.

PAM1361 BiTempo is a great looking watch. I tried one on last year. Couldn’t bring myself to drop £9k on one though.

Watches of Mayfair are a good source for new grey market Panerai.

Alternatively Will at Wiseman Watches gets a lot of good feedback as already mentioned.

I’m personally tempted by a 627 at Watchfinder. In theory they should be trustworthy on Panerai as an official Service Centre and owned by Richemont

Watchfinder are easy to deal with. I’ve bought a few from them. Just check watch closely. I returned a 210 with damaged bridge (you’d think they’d check movement with an exhibition back.

I wanted to make the 1361 my first Panerai, I really liked the power meter, but the 12 hour GMT hand turned me off. Had it been a 24 hour hand, that would have been my purchase. Ended up with a 1288 and couldn't be happier.
