Congrats on her promotion!! I am the guy that fiddles around outside on something pretty much everyday during daylight hours (even when she is home) so I take the time she is gone to do what I want to do in the house. Just organized one of the two shelves of cookbooks by author and size. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

My wife has never been away from home, with or without the kids (who have now flown the nest anyhow). I have often been away for week(s) for work and always missed the family a lot. When our Daughter is once again living in Australia I might encourage her to go visit and have some Mother/Daughter time. I will jump into the car and go visit an old mate who lives several hours North of here and who I have not seen for 35 years.

Two nights apart and I begin to have problems sleeping without her there. Thankfully, that rarely happens. When I am to e (boys MTB trip to the desert usually) it is her time to binge watch Harry Potter movies for the tousandth time.

I love the company of my partner but she would rather we only see each other on the weekends, no interest in living together, marriage, etc.
I imagine we break up once we finish this house project. Sucks being in a relationship with someone you’re willing to marry when you realize you’ve got the lifespan of a pair of shoes in their life To answer your question though, I really am not all that fond of the alone time. We used to spend every non working moment together and loved it. When I agreed to watch over her dad’s property while it went through probate, the agreement was that she would come here every weekend and if not I would go downstate. But we live in Michigan and life happens. Last week her step dad passed away so she had to go be with her mom, this week I offered to go down state as we had a snow storm coming through here but she wanted me to stay up here since we were supposed to do some bathroom renovations together… now I'm stuck doing renovations alone all weekend and won’t get to see her for another week making it 3 weeks. Hopefully there’s lots of sunshine, bike rides, and pleasure in our future these past 8 months have been incredibly tough |

My S.O. (fifty three years and counting) can't travel anymore because of a genetic degenerative neurological condition (Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease) that severely limits mobility. There are never complaints, which is remarkable since if I were the patient I'm sure I'd be a real PITA. We have common interests and values, trust each other completely, and give each other space.

I am the one never home in my household, business travel at least 4 days (most likely 6) a week and it's been my career all my life. We do Face Time nightly unless I am overseas.
I have the whole house to myself (never have kids) and I pretty much do my routine as if I am on the road when she is out of town to visit with her friends. I cook for myself when I am home alone since I eat out so much. In many ways I do enjoy having the house to myself. |
