Considering replacing oyster with jubilee bracelet

Some of you may recall I have a champaign dial gold rolesor skydweller with an oyster bracelet. I dont want to say I'm having buyers remorse, but honestly, the jubilee would be a much better bracelet for this watch.

I reached out to the rolex service center and they said they could swap the bracelet out for a (small) fee, whatever that is. Then I looked into buying a whole new bracelet all together. My US AD quoted me almost $10,000. About half that if they kept the old bracelet. My London AD quoted me £4700 to buy it outright.

Those kinds of prices are a bit much to justify the swap.

My underlying question is my concern over the configuration of the watch as it left rolex. I know swapping dials is a huge no no. It then becomes an immediate Frankenstein and impacts value. But what about the bracelet? If it's were to send it off to the Dallas service center for a bracelet swap, would that be recognized as a configuration deviation from how the watch was sold? Does the hang tag specify the bracelet on the watch?

Thoughts please. I really do like the jubilee better, but I am not interested in the swap (turning in the old bracelet) if it is going to affect the watches value.

Don't get me wrong, i don't plan on selling the watch, but I'm one of those guys who likes to keep things Original, or go back to Original if needed.

10k for a two tone bracelet seems ridiculous. 4700 GBP seems more reasonable. Seeing as the same watch is available on a Jubilee and new cards don't list the bracelet, you'll be fine. It won't devalue the watch.

Those are pricey options , I did what you want to do, but it was a SS EXP 2. I just bought the new jubliee outright 3k. Maybe someone else has an idea,

Exactly.

If Rolex will swap it for a "small fee" and this is what you want, then do it without any fear of devaluation.

His US AD offered him 10k US for buying outright and half that for swapping. His UK AD offered him 4700 GBP for buying it outright. So 5000 USD for swap vs about 5800 USD for buying a new bracelet outright. I'd say keeping the old bracelet is worth 800 bucks. Hell, you can probably sell it for more than that if you really want to. I'd just keep both and change the bracelet depending on the mood.

Swap sounds reasonable, it's not not likely having a spare on hand will be of any value, especially if you prefer the jubilee

I'll call the Dallas service center again on Monday and get the exact price for a swap. Something that I didn't consider was that if the change is done by Rolex, that would be a sanctioned change. I think I've heard of this for things like bezel color changes..

I would lock down the prices and then I would go shop a trade out on the watch for the model with the bracelet that you want. I would believe this would be more economical and you don't need a second bracelet. I did that with my SS Sky-Dwellers with the thought of keeping the oyster bracelets and I have never considered putting them back on.

I'd reach out to a trusted seller and see what the difference would be on a trade of your watch for the same model on jubilee.
I would think it would be far better than the quotes you received and it would be all factory.

I didn't consider trading it in towards a new one in the configuration I wanted. Ill call the service center first. If the "small fee" winds up being crazy, I'll go with the rmtrade in route.

I think jubilee is a nice option on dressier pieces and a fluted certainly fits the bill. Go for it I say. Will be expensive but might be able to fetch a half decent price for the oyster or if money no object keep to mix up. Keep us posted!

I put an offer in to bobs watches to see what they would pay for it. I'm looking at all options. I'll let you all know what they come back with.

I swapped my TT white Sky Dweller from Oyster to Jubilee. I think it suits it better and it is much more comfortable, not that the Oyster bracelet is uncomfortable per se. The cost was £4,750 UK for my AD to fit it and size it. I retained the original Oyster. I think Sky Dwellers on Jubilees tend to fetch a bit more.

Most here are not fans of Bobs. If I was you I'd ask DavidSW or other forum trusted sellers.

OP I share your opinion but not for the aesthetics. I waited over 2 years for a blue dial skydweller only to be offered an oyster bracelet variant. I reluctantly accepted it since there was no time window if or when a jubilee would come along. Long story short I had it for around 18 months and if I wore it three times its an exaggeration. It just didn’t feel the same on my wrist as the jubilee version I had tried numerous times at the AD. Sadly I let it go specifically because of the bracelet. I truly loved the watch itself and its complication. I am now on the list for the YG version on the solid gold jubilee.
