If I could afford it and could get my hands on one, I surely would buy it. Because the oddball “road less traveled” is always better than “get what everybody has” in my view.

Really, really nice. I appreciate the side by side with various different makers and models. This really helps put the fit it into perspective for me. Great looking watch!

Thread title sounds like a disease. Still shaking my head at this release.

I’ve got Cubitus

At least, for me, that was the case.

Sure, square watches are an acquired taste, and comparisons are inevitable. I mean, how many shapes for a watch are out there that actually work? Not many.

I’ve been beating the Aquanaut and Nautilus drum for so long that the Cubitus changes things in a big way. It's just different but similar. Patek's DNA is there. So, regardless of your preferences—circle, oval, square, or triangle—the Cubitus is a very well-crafted piece with a new movement. It has almost 100 more parts than those found in the 5712.

Try to see it in the flesh next time you cross a Patek boutique. Maybe it will surprise you, or it may reassure your disdain. The best part about the watch world is that there will always be “different strokes for different folks.”

Here are some pics for you: heavy pics and some side-by-side with other watches. Oh, and I really like the new box, too.

Enjoy, or not:

I was probably in the minority of not actually hating Patek for the Cubitus. It is a decent looking watch, different and quality would be top notch. Plus it’s available in SS on bracelet. I was happy with the release … until … I saw your side by side next to the nautilus. Wow, now THAT is a grail piece! Wear them in the best of health.

I do like it on the strap better than the bracelet, but ultimately I just don't really like the watch. Definitely polarizing, and congrats to anyone who is in a position to be offered one. It does have a passing resemblance the Glashutte 70's series, particularly the panodate chrono. To my eye, the Glashutte just has better proportions and symmetry. Feel free to ban me now!

I saw one in-person last weekend. Bracelet with green dial version. I lean toward sports watches, and I liked it. Beautiful dial.
