Newbie Daytona Owner - Advice/Help please!
Hi guys n girls!
As Per my first thread, i am the proud owner of a Stainless Black Dial Daytona I bought the watch at the end of August this year, now my question to the panel of experts (!) on this great forum is this...... My watch is an M serial with the 78490 bracelet. From reading on here, it seems that this is an slightly older version, and could have been sitting around at the AD for almost a year before i bought it, which i know would not affect warranty as the warranty starts from the purchase date, but would a watch 'just sitting around' for almost a year be a 'lesser' purchase than a totally factory fresh or more recently manufactured one? Would this 'idle' period affect the longevity of the watch!? the AD assured me that its 'fresh' stock, but from research on here and on the rolex reference guide it seems as it isnt!! whats the score guys? Thanks in advance! |

Sitting at the AD?.. mhhh I don't know .. Daytona's usually go pretty fast...78490 is the previous bracelet I believe... but some users like that one.

V series are the newest Daytonas.
I highly doubt that M series was the newest batch... according to the AD. Consider Daytonas get sold almost right away when they hit the store. However, to answer your question, I don't think it will effect the longitivity of this watch. I have receive a Rolex from my grandfather, which was sitting in a safe for about 10 years before getting to me. The watch run perfect and have no problems. I am sure your daytona will out last you... if you are concerned, at the first sign of it running slow, just send it in for service. Rolex will change any parts that needs to be changed, and do a complete overhual on the watch. you have nothing to worry about... |

Sometimes you can buy a "new" watch from the DEALER that has been sitting in the case for 3,4 or 5 years.. then you could arrange with the dealer to have the watch serviced before you take it....
