question about datejust ref:1601?

Hello and i am so glad to found this forum. So am interested in buying a datejust from ebay and I found this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...#ht_5490wt_794
my question first is, when is caliber is 1570 or 1575? even, the photo is 1603 and the advert is ref 1601??
second in my question to the seller ''do you know when built this watch, and how to do this demonstrated?'' answer:Around 1970s. You unlock the crown by puuling the Crown down. When you move it upward after unlocking it ti will wind the watch though it automatic you can alos maula do it both way & pulling the cornw will adjust the hands to set time.
what is your opinion
thanks for all

The caseback and bezel are not 1601.
It would be important to see what is stamped between the lugs, it could be 1601 or 1603, unless you see a photo (which the seller has not provided) you will never know if this is a 1601 or 1603.
The fact that the caseback is 1603 is not really relevant as Rolex did use 1603 casebacks on 1601s.

The 1601 has a White Gold Fluted bezel.
This watch has a Stainless Steel engine turned bezel, which is correct for a 1603 but not a 1601.

The dial looks good except maybe some lume dots are missing and so does the movement. The movement is a 1575 but the movement as expected may be stamped 1570, again that is no problem.

The bracelet looks correct and in good condition (as long as it is long enough for your wrist).

Seller is registered in the UK but the item is located in India ?

You need to pull the winder out to the second stop and then move the hands through 24 hours before the date will move forward. Keep doing this until you have the correct date.

Yes, this is not a quick set movement, so you have to go through all the hours and days until you get the correct date.

It is a 1603 and not a 1601

The first position should wind the watch..

With the crown pulled out and turning the hands, you should be able to go past midnight for the date to change, then to about 2 am, and back up to about 9 pm, then forward to midnight, changing the date again, and so forth.

So, doing this, you don't need to go all around the dial twice each time..

Today I went to Rolex because the 1603 needed service, running far ahead.
So I gave, and I told them how he came into my hands and immediately checked for authenticity. All was well lucky for me. The clock will stay six weeks why workload and adjust the tube, crown and glass all only 305 euro!!

i ask price for new dial because i like me the grey, and the price of that 240 euro plus 420 for new jubilee total 660 euros so much at the moment

That's okay.

Find a dial from a reliable source and have a local watchmaker fit it. That way, if you ever decide to sell the watch, you have both dials.

Rolex will keep the old dial if you have them change it.

For me jubilee is the best look and matches with 1603!! and is more exspensive 490 eu

100m is fine for swimming...

as long as it has been pressure checked and the seals are in good condition..

In other words, if my Rolex Oyster has been serviced recently I would not be concerned... If my watch were 10 years old and had never been serviced, I might think twice about it..

The Athens RSC is excellent about this - they will return all parts replaced to you (dials and hands too) if you request it in advance and are very helpful in general. They recognize that the parts belong to you.

They also did a great job on my 1601 recently so if that is any indication, all will be well.

Today I got the service, bracelet did not change, because my personal view is not so relaxed. As presented a result of the price today in the stock exchange rolex hellas for jubilee is EUR 600 EUR 100 cheaper the oyster, and after this crosstalk i made my own conclusions. The watch for some reason when i set it with the help of http://www.horlogeparlante.com/gr/greece-athens -421.php to regulate, stopped twice !!!!!!! I dont know why, perhaps the lock of the crown; however, the shaken several times and did not stop. Last negative point is that, yesterday i took them the phone, and I told them if we can pick up today, and having contacted again the girl from reception with me after half an hour told me that, the watch is ready 4pm!! 5pm closed, and ask you the watch worked before for check all progress?
