These polls should log who votes and put their name against it automatically. The poll would be much more accurate.
The poll DOES log who voted for each option. You can see who voted for what by clicking on the underlined number representing the number of votes for each option. A screen pops up with the user names for each of the options. As you can see, I voted "Just OK" as I don't like it, and I did try it on, twice.

Hiya - No offence taken - I have worn one, and in fact the photos keep drawing me to it, but I clearly remember when I tried one on I thought "WTF it's brick", and I put a lot of sway in initial reactions. We can all learn to live with things we get familar with. However, these are just my reactions - I'm the same with Panerai - love the look but for me they're just too big. Not that I don't keep looking. Cheers.

Anyway - everyone else here loves them, so who cares what I think - if we all thought the same it would be a very booring world.

This is great news and I have just been trough it : Interesting to see that 3 that have voted "regret buying it " are not amongst the "I own one " we could accept that they have sold it . BUT ! what is more astonishing is that the ones that voted " Ok, but nothing more " do not show up in the "I own one " neither . Can we accept that they too have all sold their SDDS or did they just give their opinion whilst NOT owning the watch .

The poll was open to all, not just owners. I expressed my opinion from face to face interactions. It's ok, just not for me.

I just got mine two days ago. Please tell me that the reflections on the dome will disappear with time.
It is a beauty, but in some conditions the reflections are making it really hard to see the time!!!!
Other than that...... it is a masterpiece.

Don’t you find it hard to see the time with so many reflections on the Chrystal?

The reflections from the domed crystal is very much part of the overall allure and beauty of this watch. Personally I have zero issues with such as you simply have to twist your wrist “slightly” one way or the other to get a clearer look…. if needed; I cannot even think back to noting having to do such so it must be a very natural subconscious adjustment if I did..

This is certainly NOT something that bothers me and I find hard to believe is an issue with other owners. There is no way I would swap the domed crystal for the more standard Rolex flat crystal…..

Anyway just my thoughts, unless we are talking about perfectionism (does it exist?) maybe the DSSD would annoy you if 100% clarity from all angles and conditions is your TOP Priority?

So I have had my rolex for a year (got it in august of 08) now and it has been great and aweful.

the great:

It is very comfortable, the glide lock is awesome and it feels like a quality watch. All that writting around the watch you dont even notice and the blue glow is awesome when you go into a dark room. I like big watches as I have a large wrist and already own two panerais, and have had an omega planet ocean and a bell&ross in the past. I have had a major issue twice with the watch (ill explain in a min) and it was sent to rolex and full repaired (took a month) with no charge which I was very happy about. It is my first rolex and I have been very happy with it.

the bad:

Call it user neglect but I had the misfortune of scratching the saphire crystal TWICE badly. The first time i had the watch for two weeks and was walking threw a crowd in a club and I had 3 deep scratches across it. SHOCKED and never felt a thing (and no I wasnt drinking - I work in a club). Went to my AD and they were "what did you do?". Sent it to rolex and got it back in a month with no charge. Second time it happened when I was traveling in greece and I have no idea but had another deep scratch. Again, went to my AD after my vacation and they where "what did you do?" . Sent it to rolex and got it back after a month no charge. Thank god it happened while under warrenty and I'm sure rolex must be wondering what the hell is going on with me. BTW, I have been much harder and more obusive on my other watches and this is the first watch I ever damaged.

The bracelet: As comfortable as it is I do wish it didnt taper as much as it does. It feels great on but when I look it at sitting on my desk or dresser it looks a little top heavy compared to my other watches

Result: Love the watch but now am a little freaked out if anyone even breathes on it or if I see a smudge on it I go in a panic worrying its another scratch.

I don't even know what to make of that statement? 'Reflections disappearing'...do you expect the construction of the crystal to somehow reshape itself after X amount of hours? Seriously, if the reflection bothered you, why purchase?

Personally, I don't find it bothersome in the least...I can honestly say I've never looked at my watch (regardless of angle) and thought, "Wow...I just can't read the time."

I'm actually the 180 degree opposite of you in that I absolutely LOVE the reflection. I find myself looking at this watch more than any other in my collect because of the unique glow the domed crystal gives off. I've had other domed watches, yet for some reason the DSSD has the most alluring image of them all. Aesthetically, I would rank the dome one of the DSSD greatest attributes (w/ the Glidelock winning in the functionality department).

I agree with Moby33. I've not had any problems seeing the time clearly under all lighting conditions and mind you, I'm almost 50yrs old and highly dependent on my progressive lenses for reading.

I totally get that...makes perfect sense.

I have multiple shirts that feel great when I put them on and I always get compliments on how nice they look on me...but the minute I put them on a hanger in my closet I think they just look terrible. How could I own shirts that look terrible on a hanger? What to do?

You guessed it, I burned them all immediately...I mean really, comfort and good looks mean nothing IMO if it doesn't look right in the closet or folded in the drawer - right?

Hahaha.

I'm not sure it would have looked better. The clasp would be HUGE.

i dont own one, but was tempted the other day, quiet common to see these in AD windows now. I love the SD and Sub and i do love very large watches so the Deep Sea does have some apeal for me, if they were holding their value better i would most likley have one in the collection.

I don't believe the DSSD has the distinct honor of holding that crown all by itself...please show me anything that is holding its value well in this global economic downturn. Just a few short years ago I sold a used LNIB Sub & SD for more money then I can buy BNIB examples today.

I guess my buying mentality is 100% opposite from you...I kind of wish I could have held out until now to purchase the DSSD as I think this is THE time to be buying. The economy is going to improve in many parts of the world (actually, the numbers are showing we're finally on our way up...albeit a slow recovery) and I guarantee fast forward 2+ years from now you're not going to be able to pick up DSSDs for the prices I'm seeing today.

Nope, if I were in the market (or even considering that I may want one), I would have no fear of jumping in now as I think there are a ton of really great deals to be had that will probably be a thing of the past in a relatively short period of time.

This is definitely the time to buy up the relative bargains.

Too top heavy for me, too thick and too bulky. I love the ceramic bezel, but not the domed crystal. Glidelock is very nice feature, but overall the band is too small. I find myself wearing my old sub date much more often than the DSSD. I voted "regret buying" because it just doesn't get much wrist time for the price I paid. I force myself to wear it from time to time and can never fall in love with it. I thought it would be like my 111h which took a day or so of wearing to feel comfortable, but the DSSD is just so top heavy... like a brick on my wrist. BTW I have 7.75" wrists; I cant imagine how people with 7" or less can pull this thing off!

Finally...some input from a 'Regret Buying' member. Interesting how you critique the top heavy issue so much...I'm a firm believer individual wrist contour plays a big part in wear comfort as opposed to strictly going off of wrist size. I have slightly bigger than 8" wrists, so we're about the same size, yet I find the DSSD to be anything but top heavy and extremely comfortable. That's why I've been able to wear it during such activities as diving (obviously), snow skiing and even played tennis with it a few times (albeit w/ the Glidelock tighten).

Trust me, I didn't think I would be able to enjoy these activities w/ the watch on, but figured I would give it a shot and remove if it wasn't comfortable or bothered me in the least bit. To my amazement, the watch was very comfortable and hardly moved a bit. Again, top heavy is something that never enters into my description of the watch on my wrist. Sorry to hear you didn't connect w/ the watch, but it sounds like you've still got others that sing to you so in the end I guess it's not that big of a deal. Cheers.

I dont know why people are too worried about the size and the weight of the deepsea it is same size and weight as the Omega Planet ocean chrono, no one says anything about the size and weight of PO.
I think once your wear the Deepsea for a few days you wont like to wear other watches.

Dssd

Yeah I got one. Trendy....Yes. Overkill for my for 3ft deapth's of my hot tub... Defently... but there is nothing like having a 200Gram peice of steel on your wrist just in cast you need to beat some one with it. or possibaly use as a ancor. I do like it but if one more person goes I like your submariner I am going to give them the DSSD wrath and drop it on there foot. leaving them gimping away with a broken toe. Personaly in hind sight it is a $7000 dolllar no date sub. And the only Rolex that left me feeling a little ripped off. But hea 904L cost the same a gold right?...JK.. I like my plat YM... has a little more bling and it dosent make me do curls with a half pound watch to check the time. lol .. just my .2 cents.

Funny how so many Rolex fans can't handle a slightly bigger watch. The DSSD is a mid size in Breitling land, lol.

Tried one on for the first time last week and I was blown away! Felt heavy and substantial...everything that you would expect from a Rolex. I walked in wanting a Milgauss and I walked out wanting the DSSD. Now if I could just find a decent discount before the next price increase, I might just get one.
