My work has sent me on a hardship trip to Honolulu for 10 days. Can't decide which watches to take. I think I should take the GMT has to go since I will be spanning many time zones and many hours flying. So if I take a second watch should it be the Daytona, Serti Sub or the Meteorite DD? The remaining watches are going to the bank vault.

Also any members know of any Hawaii watch stores I should visit?

On Oahu, the Rolex ADs are all nice to talk to. In Waikiki, there are 2 ADs in the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center. There is another AD not too far away in the Ala Moana Shopping Center (Ben Bridge.)

I've voted for the last option, although I actually meant to vote for a different watch as the 2nd watch to bring. I think for Hawaii a SS Sub or Explorer II would be the perfect watch. To me the Serti Sub is too much :(

As for the primary watch, the GMT IIC seems perfectly appropriate.

Just take the GMT, think it will cover all your needs. At least then you wont have to worry about the watch not on your wrist.

I was there in Jan, and took the Exp II to keep track of both times,and for every day wear, but took the TT Datyona for an event we were invited to. I did see at least two AD store fronts driving through Waikiki, but didn't stop. The're not totally without culture and good taste over there.

If you're going to the Big Island, pop in and say "Hi" to Janet at Baron & Leeds in Waikoloa; nice folks there. Also, why not take more than 1 watch?! I took all of mine on the last trip to HI and enjoyed them all.

I usually only take one watch when I go to Hawaii by air.. Either the Exp II or the Sub..

If I go by boat, I take 2, a TT Sub black and an Exp II..........

I think anything else will be too much while wearing an aloha shirt and shorts in the 808.

Its dressy enough for work, but not too much.

If you are on Waikiki Beach and see the Beach Boys, say "Aloha" to Rabbit Kekai for me.

LOL...true. But, if you were to buy it in Hawaii he can have the AD mail it home free and no tax! Or you take it home that day tax is only 4.5%.

take your GMT & buy a regular SS sub in Hawaii, their sales tax is low, the AD can ship it home for you....no tax....it will be the best travel souvenir you will ever buy.

We were recently in Hawaii and Maui for just over two weeks, and the ADs we SUPER nice! Those were the only two islands we visited, so cant comment about the other ADs on other islands. I picked the sub, as it works well for all of the water sports you can do there!

There are lots of Rolexs in the wild there, especially in Maui!

... Now I am thinking about maui again... and man do I want to go back!

When my wife and I were going to Maui every other year, I alternated between GMT and Sub...eventually I just brought both with me and brought them in my carry-on.....

1680 Submariner...
