Ladies opd stops/not keeping time accurately

Hi all. I own a ladies oyster perp datejust. I guess it is about 25 years young and has been behaving badly. I don't baby this watch, but I certainly don't abuse it either. The greatest extent of the action this watch sees is the movement of my arm while playing the xbox -- in bed. Yeah, that's about the most action my watch sees lately. But enough about me.
I recently, while on vacation in Richmond, VA this week, visited a jeweler to find out why my watch has not been keeping time. it never leaves my wrist and I'm not un-ambulatory. I found out that this watch needs to be wound every now and then. Ok. So she proceeded to wind the 40x rolex recommended on an index card. I have to say I was surprised.
'Wind?' I thought. 'That's interesting.'
so, this did absolutely nada. Zippo, zero, zilch. Well, not true. It did remain accurate for about twenty minutes.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I have had this watch back
now for about ten months after Rolex essentially gutted and replaced the innards. And the diamond face, for whatever reAson. The cost of this service was about 3k. Needless to say I'm gettin kinda angry and frustrated. This is the second time they've done this. Basically it's new. IMHO taking a rolex in to get it's insides replaced even once is one too many times. TIA

There really isn't much to go on with your post... "not keeping time" isn't really a symptom of anything except that it needs to be timed (regulated). So, let me just touch on a coule of your points..

. You do not need to wind it unless you are not active... it will wind itself just fine.. If you take it off for a few days, then wind it 40 turns...

. A mechanical watch will not run forever regardless of it's cost or name.. The inside parts are always wearing themselves out whenever it is running. You do need to replace the worn parts and clean and oil the movement every few years..

. If it was overhauled "10 months ago" by Rolex, then it is still under their service warranty. Sent it in and have it regulated to keep proper time..

I'm curious as to why the movement needed to be replaced. In an RSC Service, the only expendables would be: great wheel, pallet and jewels, mainspring, rotor axle, and all the gaskets. Cost would be $650.

Which RSC did you send it to, Dallas or NY? Was it an RSC or just an AD's watchmaker? If you still have the warranty, either should take the responsibility and put things right.

ok the second hand will stop moving, therefore not keeping the time it would should it. Sometimes if I move my wrist it will jar the sec hand into moving maybe a couple of minutes. Sometimes positioning my wrist a certain way will jar it again, sometimes not. It doesn't have that sound when swirling that is so just a rolex. It just won't continue ticking.

It was sent to Genéve, Switzerland for repair. When you shook it I soundded as if everyhing in it was loose. When I unscrewed the crown I couldn't even twist it and dared not.

I cannot accept what guy above said about waxtch brand price, etc. I have a Swiss army watch that I've pretty much domestically abused and the thing is going strong. That cos 300. My twenty seven year old movado divers has been thru he'll and back. That was about 1.2k. I will not accept that a rolex will just get old and fall apart some day. This is not a fossill, althouh those are lasting longer too. I don't want a b and m, I would take a Cartier. But I love my rolex. I'm stumped. A tag? Maybe. Nah.

Ok, my dad told me it was sent overseas but the jeweler said it most likely went to Dallas. He didn't offer any suggestions except to bring it In and have it assessed--again. I am he first I know of to have these issues. I don't even ski anymore lately. I hate this.

Larry, gave you the right information...if it's not working send it back to RSC and have them give it a once over and fix the problems!!!
