This may not be a particularly insightful post, but the Ralph Lauren store on Madison Ave has quite a nice collection of collectible Rollers. Almost all the DJs and similar are on leather.

Looks very classy. However, I like my jubilee too well to try it!!

Yes, it was on the "wrong" side when I got the watch. I never bothered to change it.

I had it serviced recently and the strap is now back on the "correct" side.

Al, I like Nancy's Celini on the leather strap.

Claus, I like the leather on the DJ, but not on the GMT. I prefer bracelets on sport watches. Which is another reason I am not a fan of the NATO straps on Subs, SDs or GMTs.

I feel pretty much the same way. A bracelet or leather strap on a dress watch, but a bracelet on a sports model. The exception for me might be a gold Daytona on a brown leather strap like the one in these borrowed pix. To me, it's a stunning combination.

I've had it on, and was sore tempted to shell out the big bucks for it, but I restrained myself admirably.

It'd be a tough call for me, but I think the yellow with brown strap would win out. But, then there's that fantastic meteorite dial on the WG............

In either case, I wouldn't have to worry about restraining myself. I'm sure my bank manager would step up and do that for me.

I think leather straps on watch can look great, but the watch has to be designed with the strap in mind. The Daytona in the photo looks great I think because the strap joins the case as it should, looks like one piece into the watch. There is an extra piece put in so there is no gap around the case. Where as other after market straps always leave a gap between the case and the strap. Doesnt look as complete as it should. But certainly gives the watch an interesting look.

Actually, you can get straps that closes that gap.

Now that new Rolex Datejust, with the Gold Case, white faced dial, and brown leather strap- That is one classy good looking watch!!!!!!!!

Dayuummnnn! Very stunning, indeed! And, IMHO, the Meteorite dial face WG Daytona would be absolutely beautiful in a Black Croco Leather Band with a matching WG Deployant Clasp!
