What Mont Blanc would you get
Or should I say which one would you recomend and why?
By the way I am looking to get a nice rollerball. I'm considering getting one from the Fountain Pen Hospital.

I want the one with the diamond in the top. It was some anniversary edition, I think.

The different Starwalker rollerballs are very nice. I have the lattice with rubber model and I really like it. But I have a question for you...why not a fountain pen???

I would get the Mark Twain. It is one of the nicest looking WE's in a while IMO. They will only produce 6000 individual rollerballs so I like having something somewhat unique. If you like the Le Grande size you should like this pen.

Just don't think that a fountain pen would be something that I could adjust to.

I have been looking at that one and the John Lennon one. I'm a Beatles fan, but I think the Mark Twain looks real nice.

Fountain pens are the best. They wouldn't have survived this long if they weren't. Give them a shot.

Man, you sound just like me. I started with a mb rollerball (black mystery) and then decided to get the mark twain. I have horrible penmanship and am a lefty. I took a big gamble on a fountain pen and haven't looked back since. It is actually easier for me to write with the fp as I apply a lot less pressure. Do yourself a favor and at least try one before you decide....

If you really want a rollerball, then the LeGrand rollerball with platinum trim. Classic look, and matches your watches well.

Zed gives some good advoice.
The fountain pen by it's very design, requires no pressing, no forcing, no dragging or friction of any kind. It allows you to move freely and without any effort at all. This fluid movement should help you to improve your handwriting. I don't say that if you get a fountain pen, your handwriting will automatically look drop-dead sexy, but it could help you improve its legibility and ease of execution. Give it a shot. You never know, you might like it. |

The great thing about a fountain pen is it writes so beautifully... it's like you are drawing letters instead of just writing.
The downside of fountain pens is the reality of modern use where society requires rollerball or ballpen to sign multiple copies, from many legal documents to deliver forms, receipts etc. Often, what you are signing, doesn't really allow time for a fountain pen signature to dry, its folded over to a nice smear. This means if you want to carry a fountain pen, you will also have to carry a ballpen. When I go out, I take a roller ball. When I write at home I use a fountain pen. |

I sign everything with a fountain pen. I literally haven't touched a ballpoint in years. Take some blotting-paper with you. Not all fountain pens write in huge rivers of ink, you can get some that write very dry and which won't need you to wait two hours before the ink is dry.

The drying thing is another concern for me. Thanks for all of the feedback. I do have a couple Waterman rollerballs already, I'll have to give it some thought.

One warning though, once you get your first smooth glorious fountain pen, you can't go back to rollerball. There are plenty of ink choices, if you need quick drying and permanent say. I didn't know there are so many blues (I love blue) ![]() Good Luck with whatever your decide. Cheers! ![]() ![]() |

Montblanc rollerballs are about the best I have owned, but if you are going to spend that kind of money you should kick in a couple hundred more and get an FP. Their resale value is much better. Also, I used to be a hard core rollerball only user until I purchased my first nice FP and I have been hooked since.
Sold all my RBs and now only have a few FPs. About 48 at last count. ![]()

I really like the starwalker rubber/metal fineliner. The weight and the comfortable grip is just perfect! But like a Rolex, any MB rollerball pens are all excellent!

That is the one I actually chose. I tried all of the ones that were availible in the shop at the time and that one was the best. I also got to say I loved the Platinum over the Gold. Man you were so right on target, got to hand it to you.
