Icon5 Warrantee, imperfections ?

Hi all, looking for info and TRF is best place.
I am considering buying a 12 month old sub-c.
I read on here sometimes there are imperfections in some watches when new in box. IE: dust under crystal, out of line bezel, bad Lume on dial etc.
If my name is not on original recipt, warrantee but by rights 12 months left , where does that leave me. Can I send it to an AD or RSC under the warrantee?

Thanks TRF in advance.
Neil

Unfortunately the warranty is only valid with original owner.

There is no such thing as a '12-month-old Sub-c'. They only came out at the end of this past Summer.

I believe that is correct for you guys in the US but in the UK warranty is on the item regardless of the owner.

It depends...on nothing scientific:

http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=144592

Mine has a different name on the card, yet it was serviced under warranty.

I wouldn't guarantee it, but I wouldn't rule it out either...

I was not asked to prove my identity when I inquired about a possible defect with my newly purchased watch.

I hope this helps.

Well first if you examine any watch with powerful Lupe's yes you will find Minuit so called imperfections. But when you buy your used sub examine it and if you cannot see anything then all is well. The many posts about the bezel not lining up to within a cats whisker makes me smile. As with watches like the sub say the triangle lining up with the 12.o'clock bares no real function to the working of the time lapse bezel. And with the warranty Rolex don't take pictures of the original buyer and don't know personally who ever bought the watch.

Thanks, I am hopeing to buy a tt black early next year. I am also hoping to buy from a fellow TRF seller. However this will be the third most expensive item I will ever own, house and car first, and will not be flipping or buying again. As such I am doing as much homework as possible before I buy.
So am I correct that a pre owned watch won't be covered until I get a service in my own name?

Not necessarily. They come with a two year warranty. If you buy a used one with time left on the warranty - it MAY be covered (as in my link a few posts above). No guarantee, just a possibility. Many have had warranty work covered, some have not.

If a guarantee of a warranty is important to you, you need to buy from an AD.

As you can see here: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthrea...light=warranty about 25% of respondants said they used their warranty for something.

In talking to Ben Bridge Jewelers, I specifically asked if the warranty would be good, were I to purchase a watch thru them, with my name on the warranty, and then give it as a gift. They said yes, as long as the "owner" was able to show the warranty card, filled in with all the proper info, including a name (not necessarily "their" name).

Haven't tested the above but that is what they told me just the other day.....

I was told by Rolex NYC about a year ago that the warranty now goes with the current owner. I actually had a watch serviced under warranty that I did not purchase new but was still under the 2 yr warranty.

Thanks for all your help. The Warrentee is mainly a concern for the Imperfections that i have read here on TRF. As I have explined this will be my one and only and as such want it to be as perfect as possable. I am Aware that pre owned may have the odd scrach here and there but the WATCH not the Bracelet is the main thing.

It seems from above its a bit hit and miss depending on the AD and the Service rep at the RSC.

It's probably 2 tone or gold.
