With all links, it has between $3,000 - $4,000 worth of gold. (depending on the price of gold at the moment, of course) Don't you DARE melt it!!

There's not much demand for bark, but there are some like myself that love them. You could sell between $5k-$7k depending on condition.

When was the last time it was serviced and do you have the service papers?

Post some pictures, if you don't mind.

The brown dial kind of sets it off! I wouldn't let go for less than $6000. The head on strap would go for $3500-4000. The band looks tight and maybe $2,500. I've been watching them on the Bay for that price without the service history and in worse condition. I want a DD but not sure about bark.

Nice Day Date with the Walnut dial? Bark is a hard sell these days...including the wood dial versions. To find an authentic Barked Day Date by Rolex is getting harder to find but doesn't increase its value any.

....now BarkMaster....if you melt a barked Rolex Day Date in the woods...will anyone hear the sizzle?

I can only wear one at a time!!! Besides, I wouldn't want to deprive someone else the opportunity to have bark.

I think you did OK for a private sale. Don, on the other hand, would have made them pay $7k or more, but they'd have gotten a 3 year warranty with that.

>Hey now!! I am NOT the only one. Right, guys? GUYS???< I too was 'bitten by the bark' back in the 80's! (Could not afford it by a longshot) Despite the dial color on this example-I'd love to own that watch. Kudos to Mr.777/BM for keeping the dream alive. Best, Mark ("Barker" in training)

It's a good day when you can deposit a $5800 check in the bank! Congrats on the sale.

Personally, I would have kept the watch because I love how it looks. The buyer got a beautiful Rolex. I wonder what the MSRP was new?

What was the history of the watch? Did you buy it new?

Not sure what year this one is from, but in 1980 the list was $8,200 for a 18078 with President bracelet in YG.

This is odd...

You posted a message at 10am CT here and said you were "thinking" about selling it.

Yet the item for it on eBay shows it to have already been listed (on the 25th).

The description was closed with no bids shortly thereafter, but later updated the description at 3pm; yet you claim you sold it.

Then you try to post "one of my friends bought it new and he has hit rock bottom in his company and is selling everything i have a lady rolex also Rolex model 69173 18k & SS serial 8894401 have it on ebay <deleted> im open for offers on it.what is it worth?"

Sorry - but your stories are inconsistent and it looks like a set-up (scam) to me.

Now it would seem as though that was a lie since you are already in the process of trying to sell it.

I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole .... off to Watchout.

Well whatever the deal was it was a nice watch. I think some day the bark finished stuff will become sought after. Maybe I'm way off but I remember when no one wanted acrylic crystal Subs and look around now. I personally sold a 1680 all original for $2000 dollars years ago.

You might be right, but I don't care if they are ever high valued; I just think they are beautiful and hope that more people fall in love with them as I have before they all get melted.
