Saw a 5513 today!
Talked with a guy wearing a vintage 5513 today. What a great watch! Cream colored hour indicators, domed crystal and pretty flat case back. Need to get one of those!!
Anyone know a good place to look for one? You can PM me if you like. THanks. |

Well agree the 5512/3 is fine vintage choice, even for every-day wear.Classic Rolex with bullet proof movements, but now good examples getting harder to find. The various watch forums are a good place to look,as most dealer prices now have soared upward, perhaps Mike could help.Or if you cannot find a 5513,look for a early 14060 tritium dial IMHO they will be the next 5513.

It's a GREAT watch., and certainly one that has caught fire! Good 5513s are getting very hard to find with some expecting the price to head steadly north.
I'd check the various sales forums and vintage dealers, but those guys know what they have. This place has a good SC with nice examples on ocassion, http://www.network54.com/Forum/207593/ Such a classic watch!! |

Ralph Lauren on Madison and...72nd? have one currently. Somewhat peculiarly, they have affixed to it a croc leather strap.
Even more peculiarly, it looks fantastic! Are you sure the hour indicators were originally "cream?" I think that's yellowing with age. My hour indicators are indeed cream. Try and get a metres first one! |

I'm new here and need to figure out how to put a pic on here. I'd love to show my 5513. I didn't realize what I have, I just enjoyed wearing it all these years. It is in great shape because I babied it the whole time. A couple of you recomended puting it in for service but I would hope Rolex wouldn't screw it up.(I mentioned on my other posts I never serviced it) What about them trashing hands etc as someone just advised, that I should go to someone other than Rolex.

I'd get it serviced! Acryllic crystals (not to mention gaskets, crown, tubs etc...) develop cracks over time. They were mant to be replaced at service. Moisture is, in my view, the real silent killer of dials and movements. Moisture enters through a tired crystal dried gaskets etc... and over time will destroy the value of a fine vintage piece. Not to mention using a movement where the oils have long since dried. I would NOT send it to Rolex! Rolex does NOT care about the history of your watch. They only want to "make it as new as possible". Your's should have a matt dial. Rolex will attempt to replace with a gloss dial with WG surrounds. Rolex will attempt to take your desireable bracelet and replace with the more modern 93150 (ok maybe a better wearer, but the 9315 is highly desireable to the collector). Better to find a godd certified Rolex tech with a parts account or send to one of the Independent Rolex service centers. |
