Bah Humbug!

With all Dr. Robert's curmudgeonlyness and calls to "bring back lug holes" I've been thinking about what makes me love Old Skool Rolex, despite being relatively young, at 32.

I came to the conclusion that it was due to the iconic images that burned the brand onto my mind from a young age. I'm not talking about Rolex sponsorships or Brand Ambassadors. We all know Rolex are great at that game but what really got under my skin were the shots of really cool guys wearing Rolex, not because they were paid to but because they wanted to!

Maybe in thirty years there will be the same feeling about some of the new models. I doubt it though, since the world has got so much more commercial and the "celebrities" so much more non-descript and so much less cool!

How cool is this photo?

And, with the help of the Long Haired Generals photographic skills, here is my homage!

Good one. Who's the guy in the first pic?
Kidding.
McQueen looks haggard and worn out. You look like you're about to go badger-tastic on someone if they step over the line.

Great! My girlfriend was teasing me the other day, saying I have a guy crush on Steve McQueen... she's single now. I just can't get her to understand how cool he was!!

Outf&%$#ingstanding...........gotta love Steve McQueen.....wait lemme turn up my IPOD......gotta select...."Like Steve McQueen" by Sheryl Crow!

The LHG took another great portrait.......but I need to know the maker of your t-shirt,
I have patented my face & you have my likeness on that t-shirt illegally, without license

A short story........I lived in Hong Kong as a youth, my dad managed hotels there. 1965-66
the film "The Sand Pebbles" was filmed there. The film crew stayed @ the hotel my dad managed, Steve McQueen & the cast stayed elsewhere.....my buddies & I were
on the lookout for him....never got to see him in person.

I hadn't just completed a 24 hour race so I wasn't haggard enough and I guess my acting skills aren't up to recreating the look!

God, did it ever feel weird wearing my watch on my right wrist!

I must admit, I didn't think it was the most flattering of my "homage pics" but the one I looked good in kicked up merry hell, so at least there's no politics here!

Well, there is a little politics! BRING BACK LUG HOLES! FREE THE ALUMAiNIUM BEZELS!

Seriously guys, what does everyone think as to the effect cool guys wearing Rolexes through their own choice had on you wanting one as a kid rather than Rolexes marketing machine TELLING you you need one!?
